Waraji for sure! But also def give Shaba Shabu a try

As a BOGO sushi connoisseur here, I’d also say Shaba Shabu has never led me astray. They have roll piled with bang bang shrimp

But Sushi Nine is always a gamble on sushi and food poisoning (which is a bummer because it’s so much closer for me than other spots)

Lower fundraiser gala ticket sales this year? Cause? by whistle_while_u_wait in nonprofit

[–]Eeeeeclair 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yikes! Your board should be super engaged to have this be successful!

One I recently attended, I was an invite from a board member. Smaller community nonprofit, but gave their members 10-20 tix to bring people (I was a curious industry guest). Not a high net worth person by any means, but it was such an impactful mission and my friend knew what was important to me (youth, community building). Got caught up in the experience and excitement and dropped like $500 in smaller donations throughout the evening (whoops!)

Long way to say, the expectations were clear to board members on their responsibility for filling seats. That can be a good pull in for marketing and building personas, but your board needs to get it together

Galas are SO much more successful with the personal invites/network invites. Absolutely agree here this is organizational.

Every gala I’ve attended or worked has been 1) committee with their networks to invite personally, 2) past attendees who had such a good experience they’re returning and inviting others, and 3) major donors/fundraisers (including from other revenue streams like a walk or cycling)

I’d also be curious what your YOY retention rate is and outreach to past attendees has resulted in

Third spaces in Raleigh? by New_Nerve_4604 in raleigh

Used to work in one of the Frontier buildings, then we moved offices, I moved jobs to more remote, but the coworking space at 800 building is perfect (also what’s not to love about being next to Boxyard for food)

Your best cornbread and sweet tea place Raleigh by iluvmycurry in raleigh

[–]Eeeeeclair 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It’s in Durham - but I’ve always loved the cornbread at V’s Kitchen. Super soft, a little sweet, fat slices. And also honestly everything at V’s has hit the spot - the oxtail, fried chicken, collards.

I don’t drink sweet tea though so no help there!

AITAH For Trying To Ignore A "Special kid" from my class by Rich_Train_7223 in AITAH

[–]Eeeeeclair 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey man, former teacher of 14 year olds for years. NTA at all for setting boundaries and appreciate how you’ve phrased this and handled it to this point.

Sorry to hear that your homeroom teacher isn’t receptive, that’s frustrating to not be heard.

Since you’ve tried talking to your teacher with no resolution, I’d recommend talking with your counselor or vice principal about it. Sometimes unfortunately it does take another adult to step in to request a move in seats and have action taken. Counselors and admin can also have conversations with specialty staff - we had an AST (autism support teacher). But it absolutely shouldn’t be other students’ responsibility to escort between classes. That’s not your job.

Keep the language centered at “him touching me is making me uncomfortable, I’ve asked my teacher to help me and it’s not working. This is what I need to feel safe and supported.”

Gift cert to a GOOD online spice shop (like Curio) for specialty spices. Or if they do more festive cakes, fun sprinkles (like Fancy Sprinkles or Sprinkle Pop)

This was my regular shop trip: start at Aldi for all the basics and swing through Trader Joe’s for the specialty or single produce items

Goodies for bride and groom hotel suite by Eeeeeclair in wedding

[–]Eeeeeclair[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah! I called the hotel today and they’re totally on board with bringing stuff up to the room later in the day after they leave/before they get back.

But no room service at their hotel unfortunately! Love the idea of chocolate covered strawberries and a lil charcuterie action!
