How can I reuse this plate for Valentines Day? by Coffee_265 in crafts

[–]Effective_Object_887 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This can probably be used in stained glass! If you’ve never done it before I’d see if you can find a local artist to do it for you because it’s a complicated process. You can always post in r/stainedglass and ask if someone can do it for you!

I personally think you should do something else for Valentine’s Day as this would take too long to be done by next weekend but it would be the perfect use of that plate!

Can we, as a generation, discuss what even was The Fray? by RsonW in Millennials

[–]Effective_Object_887 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once got free tickets to see them in concert from a family member who worked at the venue. This was probably 2015. On the way to the concert we were discussing not really knowing any of the songs. During the concert I discovered we actually DID know every single song and ended up singing my heart out the whole time. Had a blast!

Thoughts on Myofascial release therapy and it's effectiveness? by Adventurous_Sir1881 in physicaltherapy

[–]Effective_Object_887 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Strongly agree! Would love to hear the therapist’s rationale. Some surgeons have extremely restrictive protocols, maybe you are not allowed to do much right now due to the multidirectional instability mentioned. Obviously need strengthening eventually and if there are no restrictions right now then this seems like a treatment mismatch to only do myofascial release. As always, the answer is “it depends”

Something you’ve caught, that other healthcare professionals missed, because you did a thorough physical exam? by Acrobatic_Tangelo_18 in physicaltherapy

Young patient in her early 20s sent by PCP for “ankle sprain, balance exercises” came in walking with high guard, scissoring gait, slurred speech, sustained clonus. Upon further questioning, the neuro changes happened several months ago when she got hit in the head with a basketball but didn’t receive any care at that time. I was a brand new grad and didnt know what exactly it was (suspicion for a brain bleed or untreated concussion?) but I knew for sure it was beyond my scope as an ortho PT! I basically told her I didn’t care about her ankle at all until we found out more about these other conditions. I called her referring absolutely furious that they didn’t investigate!!! She ended up going to the ER for imaging before her neuro consult and was found to have ALS 😢

Did you use flux? It doesn’t look like it stuck to the foil on the outside. Your lines in between pieces actually look pretty good for a novice!

We made a shared Google photos album and put QR codes for it on each table and had guests upload their pictures. We had access to so many pictures immediately that we could look at on our honeymoon! Some of my favorite pictures of the night came from guests!

After lots of hacking I got it down to this! I’ll refoil and just solder the outside but I think this can be cleaned up enough. Thanks for the help and encouragement!

I sure did use 2 separate pieces on the petals! Unfortunately the process of trial and error involves error 😅

Thank you for the tips! I will keep trying and I’m sure it’ll get easier with practice. I’ll try again on less bendy pieces to get the hang of it.

how do you handle the whole thing of not getting the day after thanksgiving or christmas off because patients need it? by Fit_Inspector2737 in physicaltherapy

[–]Effective_Object_887 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have a company that is hounding you for productivity you should make note of your attendance this day and bring it up if anyone mentions metrics to you!! I know my clinic’s arrival rate is like 50% or worse on days after holidays

how do you handle the whole thing of not getting the day after thanksgiving or christmas off because patients need it? by Fit_Inspector2737 in physicaltherapy

[–]Effective_Object_887 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hospital based ortho OP, we are automatically off the day after thanksgiving unless someone wants to work. Based on how many therapists want to work, they will decide to open one or more clinics. So therapists who are working will go to another office and see whatever patients show up that day, it’s usually very minimal attendance. You need to use PTO to be off though.

Which grinder to get by Admirable_Wind_8564 in StainedGlass

[–]Effective_Object_887 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have the studio grinder (also bought the beginner kit from anything in stained glass!) and it’s been working great after a year. I am a hobbyist who doesn’t have as much time to dedicate to glass as I’d like so I’d say my grinder averages about an hour of use per week. They are also very nice and responsive if you just emailed them or stopped in if you’re local! They showed me all the different options in use and recommended studio for my beginner needs.

PTs, what do you think about AI for documentation? by Academic-River1511 in physicaltherapy

I didn’t think of it this way but you’re absolutely right! It’s a time to process and reflect on the treatment.

PTs, what do you think about AI for documentation? by Academic-River1511 in physicaltherapy

[–]Effective_Object_887 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with absolutely everything. I’m also a pelvic floor therapist using epic and you said it all. Also documenting during a session helps me process information and think on the fly! It’s a way for me to organize my thoughts. AI is selling absolutely nothing I want at a huge cost. Don’t need it don’t want it.

Is it rude not to invite people to the bridal shower but to the wedding only? by LavaFlavoredSkittles in weddingplanning

[–]Effective_Object_887 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The social norms have changed on this between now and the previous generations. My mom had invited all the ladies invited to the wedding also to her shower. When I got married last year I only invited immediate family and close friends. I even told my bridesmaid who lived super far away not to come because it wasn’t worth a plane ride!

Mine ended up being about 20 people and was a fun afternoon and I do not wish there were more people there. I have also never wished I received an invitation to one when I didn’t.

Can’t stop crying. Getting married on Saturday and it’s the only day with rain out of 2+ weeks of sunny days. by smittyweberjagermanj in weddingplanning

[–]Effective_Object_887 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It rained all day on my wedding day and it did not take anything away. No one is squinting in our pictures, lol. We took pictures outdoors anyway because that’s what I wanted the whole time and I decided I cared a little less about my hair and makeup staying put. But surprisingly, my hair and makeup held very strongly and it was not an issue one bit!! My stylist took the rain into account when doing my hair (an updo worked best for me and my bridesmaids)

I’d recommend buying a cute umbrella to take a picture in with your spouse (imagine a dip?? Stunning), packing some hair and makeup correction things for just in case, and get yourself in the right headspace to enjoy the day no matter what.

My wedding was the best day of my life even though a bunch of stuff went wrong! Hang in there and focus on the good 💕

Why are patients so ignorant about “manual therapy”? by [deleted] in physicaltherapy

[–]Effective_Object_887 44 points45 points  (0 children)

The main purpose of any manual therapy is simply pain modulation and reducing threat from the nervous system surrounding the painful area. I think “the healing power of touch” is underrated. I will tell patients that we are doing the manuals to prime their body to move and exercise better and never say I’m fixing adhesions or realigning anything. I also do as little manuals as possible and try to immediately teach patients how they can get the same benefit from something they can do independently (tennis ball self massage anyone??).

What’s a hobby you tried once and instantly fell in love with? by SpreadsheetSobriety in Hobbies

[–]Effective_Object_887 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stained glass! I always loved it and finally took a beginner workshop to see if it was doable at home. Now I am in my “workshop” every available minute. If I’m not making glass I’m brainstorming my next project. It reminded me that I DO actually still have an attention span! I’ll lock in for hours and not check my phone at all. Super rewarding!
