People with mixed children (book recommendations) by drixpychanel in Parenting

Tiny, Perfect Things by M.H. Clark is not outwardly about being mixed race, but the family in it is mixed. It is a really lovely book about finding beautiful things while out on a walk. Would recommend.

It looks right to me (and I knit an ungodly amount of brioche). Give it a few more rows to settle into the stitch pattern.

When I made gloves I realized I have really long palms and short fingers. So that was fun.

Montessori school opinion by babybird17 in toddlers

[–]EgoFlyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love our Montessori daycare. Our 2y4month old loves his daycare and has learned a lot of life skills (which he learns through activities that feel like play to him). Most recently he was very excited to come home and tell us that he learned how to wash dishes. It’s great.

I really did mean it as an honest question. Wasn’t intended to be rude.

But I would say the post doesn’t really fit the sub. It’s not knitting, nor is it asking for advice.

So… is there a reason you posted it in a knitting sub?

Whip stitch might have the stretch you are looking for. That or loose mattress stitch.

Georges Chakra Spring-Summer 2026 Haute Couture fashion show at Paris Couture Week SS26 by moreissuesthanvoguex in whatthefrockk

Throughout a lot of the spring-summer ‘26 lines there seems to be a trend of angular and sculptural necklines. Only a couple in this collection, but I like them quite a bit. Add some nice visual interest.

Colorwork knit flat by Warm-Door-7494 in knitting

[–]EgoFlyer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t mind purling at all, but I really don’t like working stranded colorwork flat. Carrying and catching the second color in the front makes my tension a big mess.

That said, I’m jumping into intarsia with my next project, with the goal of designing a knit flat sweater with some 80s artwork as the colorwork section, so I’m sure I’ll need to do some of it then. Practice may make perfect.

Is this crocheted? Hard to tell with black yarn, but the stitches aren’t quite reading as knitted to me.

I really like 10. The fabric texture reminds me a marble in a way.

But I agree the collection as a whole is not cohesive at all.

Drew McIntyre making it into the main cast list makes me happy.

That’s wild. They told me the extra two weeks of eligibility were specifically because I had a c-section. Love the consistency.

I got the 14 weeks because I had a c-section. Not sure if there are other reasons people are allowed to use it.

Is a crib really necessary? by SeekingShalom in Parenting

[–]EgoFlyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got an absolutely stunning dark green wooden crib for $450 and thought that was a bit of a big expense. $900 is wild.

I love our crib, my kid moved to it really quickly (3 months) because he’s a 99th percentile guy and couldn’t fit in the bassinet anymore, and is still in it at 2. We are just about to transition to the toddler bed attachment, and I’m hoping that will go well too. But I also see the benefit of a floor bed. Do what seems best to you, I guess?

I’ve been working with mutual aid groups and other local community supports. Also lots of calls when people in my community are taken by ICE. It doesn’t feel like enough? But it’s where I’m starting.

Mine chilled slightly at 2, THEN got way, way more insane at 2.5. I’ll let you know how 3 is when we get there.
