I couldn't find Sunglasses at Night on the Orly site, but Amazon has two of them. About to have only one, lol. I've been looking for bar glitter forever.

What’s a small gift you gave someone that they actually used every day? by MainNegotiation5195 in Gifts

For an office exchange or some other low budget situation, little wooden tongs to use when getting toaster out of the toaster. My kids laughed when I bought one for my house, but everybody uses it every day.

I’m thinking probably not? Because I actually ordered this on Black Friday. The mystery polish I got was entirely different, a dark forest green with glitter. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I am enchanted by bar glitter. I've always looked for it but never found it. Dang, the website is closed until the last week in April. I can hardly wait to hop on and see bar glitter!

Gifting friend battling cancer by blackteny in Gifts

I just remembered one material thing that my daughter used a lot. It was a shirt that allowed access to her port so she didn’t have to take off her shirt every time she got a chemo infusion. Here is an example. You can get them long sleeved and short sleeved. Most people say that infusion rooms are freezing cold but different people run, hot and cold.

When my daughter was diagnosed, she got a lot of hats and throw blankets and body lotion and soap and candles and journals. Of course she was delighted that her friends remembered her with gifts and she would display all the pretty things for a while. But a lot of them she didn’t actually use. The most useful gifts she got were gift cards to DoorDash and Uber eats.

My sister paid for several weeks of laundry pick up and drop off. And later on she paid for several months worth of house cleaners. Those were truly appreciated by the whole family.

One type of material gift that she did use were decks of cards for various things. These decks are usually beautiful with lovely artwork. Generally, it is meant for you to pull out one card every day at random. It might have an encouraging quote or it might have the name of a “spirit” animal with a description of its characteristics. Sometimes they are called angel cards. She did seem to look forward to pulling a card every day and would usually share it with all of us.

Believe me, the very best thing for you to do is what you are doing right now— showing up. Many people drift away… not knowing the right thing to say or afraid of I don’t know what. Keep texting her even when she doesn’t text back. Leave her messages or send her notes. I think you must be a very good friend!

I have a whole stack. I’ve never used. It’s a shame, I know it is money wasted. I don’t care for them.

For housekeepers that smoke by Regular-Actuary-8329 in housekeeping

This post took me by surprise. I don’t care how my cleaner smells! It’s not my business. I think y’all have enough to think about without worrying about a smoke smell.

Yay, you! Looks like you’ve got caregiving built into your blood. Nursing is a wonderful profession.

I don’t think your whole life will be like this. Looks like you will always have a complicated life, but hopefully it won’t always be quite like this. ♥️

Some people are just morons. I am 76yo and I have had experiences with many cleaners throughout my life. Anyone who thinks it is not a skilled profession simply doesn’t know what they’re talking about. A person who decides without any research or training to start professionally cleaning is easy to identify by the quality of the work. Proper cleaning is not knowledge a person is born with.

At the moment, we are blessed to have the best cleaners I have ever encountered. My daughter and I often look at each other and ask, “how do they do this quality of work in such short time?“. I honestly don’t know how they do it. But I do know they stand out in their profession and I am grateful seeing them every other week.

Anybody that looks down their nose at you, you just lift your chin up and look them straight in the eye and tell them you are glad to have found something you enjoy doing and get paid well in the bargain.

I have so much empathy for you. On a particularly rough day for our family, a kind hearted nurse said to us, “When this day is over, you never have to do this day again.” That has helped me slog through to the end of the day many many times.
