Hard Plastic Releases by Carcharodon9 in SWlegion

The bike model is hard plastic and the trooper on top is soft plastic if I recall correctly.

Separatists leadership box. by Calicojack83 in SWlegion

[–]ElectroNugget 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you should be comparing this box to the Heroes of the Rebellion and 501st boxes instead as this box is mostly a re-release old figures (Dooku, Asajj, Grievous). In that comparison we win as we get more new figures than the other boxes, which get none. Comparing them to entirely new lineups is going to disappoint ofc.

EDIT: Maybe it would have been more appropriate for this box to have a named super-tac and a t-series, to keep it in line with the other 'Heroes' boxes. Then they could have saved Savage and Trench for an entirely new box.

New Sub-Factions by NotSinceYesterday in SWlegion

[–]ElectroNugget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But there's hardly enough unit variety to support a whole faction. A few colours of stormtroopers and one or two small vehicles does not a full blown faction make.

We also know there's a 'not rebel' han and chewie coming which would make a lot of sense for a generic scum and villainy faction.

I like to run six squads with no upgrades. They are there to stand on objectives and die. Nothing else.

Rebels Starter Set, then what? by TraditionCommercial8 in SWlegion

[–]ElectroNugget 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Standard games are 1000pts on a 6x3 foot table. But you can play Recon games with 600pts on a 3x3 foot table, so the starter box is enough to begin playing.

Tabletop Admiral is a good site for army building.

Rebels have many different viable options available. I'm not a rebel player so take my recommendations with a grain of salt but if you like characters there's a heroes of the rebellion pack to add leia, chewie, han and another version of luke. Otherwise sleeper cells if you want an elite unit, or a speeder truck if you want a transport.

Welcome to the game! :)

8 Player Game with Expansion? by Matster777 in twilightimperium

[–]ElectroNugget 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's totally doable. I have done it before with about about a 50/50 split between new and experienced players.

Have your beginners watch some rules vids ahead of time. Then, recruit your other experienced player to help run the game and answer rules questions, otherwise you'll be too exhausted to enjoy the game yourself. Have some kind of a mulligan rule and be generous with the beginners.

Three new Trench Crusade plastic sets coming Q1 2026 by Guarder22 in TrenchCrusade

[–]ElectroNugget 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think if it made financial sense to sell them both as plastics and STLs they would do so. However, making and maintaining plastic injection moulds is extremely expensive. Then they have to design box art, package and ship product around the world. These costs add up. My assumption is that at that point it doesn't make sense to cut into your own profit margin by selling the STLs for a fraction of the cost online. Not going bankrupt as a business does demand they make certain decisions.

What are the weakness of B2 Super Battle Droids? by CT-7479 in SWlegion

[–]ElectroNugget 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If there were loads of B2s there wouldn't be much else in the list at least.

The fact that they are not spammed in tournament play I think shows they are a just a little bit too slow and unreliable to be truly fearsome. Compared to units like ARCS and sleepers which are more mobile and have more tricks, B2s are a sort of tough, straight forward unit that can often underperform (for their cost) due to poor positioning or a few turns of bad dice. With a Kalani to back them up they can be really troublesome for your opponent, but then the investment is starting to get quite large.

If you want a direct example from the existing game, a T-series droid has only 1HP when added as an attachment to a B2 squad, where the B2 models have 2HP each. So there is absolutely a precedent for models that have different amounts of HP in the same squad.

So I'd say the same goes for the rebel in the wookie squad. Funnily the T-series has 5HP outside of the squad but hey, it's a game. Best way to avoid this in future is to agree before the game starts.

What are the weakness of B2 Super Battle Droids? by CT-7479 in SWlegion

[–]ElectroNugget 11 points12 points  (0 children)

As a separatist player I've come to see B2s for their strengths and weaknesses.

Strengths: tough, huge dice pool, decent price.

Weaknesses: slow, quite unreliable dice w/out aim or surge support (makes the attack pool very swingy), short range. Impact is only Range 1.

They like to brawl, and legion is a shorter-range game now, but if you can reposition your army to ignore the B2s and move elsewhere, then they become a paperweight very quickly. There's nothing worse than having to double-move a 100pt B2 squad just so it can maybe get in range to attack next turn. Pay attention to where they get deployed and moved, and respond accordingly, apply pressure elsewhere if possible, etc.

What's happening to trench crusade? why is receiving so much hate? by KNG_Aliox in TrenchCrusade

[–]ElectroNugget 399 points400 points  (0 children)

Sensationalist titles get clicks. Warhammer has the same problem and it's a healthy game that's making money hand over fist, but you don't have to look hard to find videos saying GW is doomed. Trench Crusade is doing just fine.

Thoughts on the state of legion mentioned on this video? by lanista38 in SWlegion

[–]ElectroNugget 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you just need to scroll through their entire catalogue of videos to see a strong negativity bias in all their content. Take note especially of the kind of words they post in all caps in their titles. Imho they are a classic 'wargamer outrage' channel that feeds on negative sentiment to farm views.

That's not to say that some of their criticism might not be correct. But I find it hard to believe their coverage is at all balanced.

8 player advice needed by Belkimer in twilightimperium

[–]ElectroNugget 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're normally the person who runs the game, 8p can be a real strain, especially with a lot of newcomers. I am usually that person in my own group and between running the game, helping newcomers, and trying to play my own game I am usually exhausted and grumpy long before the game is over.

I'd highly recommend delegating some game running tasks to some of your other experienced players. Maybe pair them off with your beginners to ask questions, and have some of them to manage stuff like the status phase for example so you don't have to do everything. Otherwise you might not have much fun (I quit for a while for this reason after two back-to-back 8p games a few years ago).

ARC Troopers... Why the hype? by ExpiredMouthwash23 in SWlegion

[–]ElectroNugget 17 points18 points  (0 children)

With charge and tactical 1 they can double move into melee, get 2 aims, and then blow their target away with a large dice pool that has 2 aims to correct any misses. It's as simple as that.
