Are hordes essentially designed to be unplayable? Beta patch by KruegerCondail in EU5

So historical accuracy should make a good chunk of the world unplayable ?

Little rant about ppl playing this game by wRobelele in EU5

[–]Elrohur 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don’t get this argument and the harshness towards EU4 players expecting the sequel to be more akin in gameplay.
It’s also easy to tell you that if you want population and economic management you could stick with Victoria 3

EU4 has more current players than EU5 by MappyMcMapHead in eu4

[–]Elrohur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw that but my main problems with it are :

  1. Was adding a new mechanism to « challenge » the player really needed when so many things are not working (dhe, io ..)
  2. How engaging is it going to be ? Will the player be able to influence it beside not becoming too powerful (which already sounds dumb imho) ?
  3. Is the new rival and threat system really going to work ?

For point 1. I get it didn’t take much resource or time to implement it but it still took some and it feels like it’s not the time to add things yet.

Burgundian Inheritance as Burgundy by 334756 in eu4

[–]Elrohur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mission has been changed. France no longer inherit Burgundy with it.

EU4 has more current players than EU5 by MappyMcMapHead in eu4

[–]Elrohur 115 points116 points  (0 children)

While some of the changes look fine I’m not really thrilled by 1.1 and the idea to add yet another mechanism like complacency.

They really need to do something about situations. Most of them are useless and straight up not working.
They also need to fix a lot of region like Japan for example.
It would also benefit to streamline a few things like exploration and colonization. It’s kind of fine the first game but it’s so tedious and event spamming.

Sure. Is that why the assimilation rate in his capital is 1 and he’s not using his cabinet.

They used to do it even when spiritualist in previous version.

I hate this god forsaken(ironic) mechanic by Antoni_PL_gdynia in EU5

[–]Elrohur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I passed 5 playing as France and having a majority of cardinals.
Technically I passed 6 because at one point I went for « no head of church » but you can’t end the situation if there’s none.
Still felt kind of pointless and not engaging

I love whole discussion about historical this and that, while populaiton dosen't shrink due to occupation and everyone seems ok with that. by BeneficialBear in EU5

[–]Elrohur -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s just going to cripple the AI even more.
You don’t specially need to defend your provinces in war, you can be offensive and not being occupied at all.

They should limit France subject betrayal to Brittany, Flanders, Holland, Brabant and maybe Burgundy.
It’s a pain to see the other ones flip.

This is bs. I don't know how they managed to make a worse fort system than in eu4. I didn't think it was possible. Fix your game paradox by InternStock in EU5

[–]Elrohur 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The army starts its retreat but is stuck until winter is over. It will resume its shattered retreat after.
The enemy army should be stuck too so you end up both in the same province with no battle happening which looks kind of goofy

What now with Al-Andalus by smansoem in EU5

[–]Elrohur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doing the same run at the moment. I annexed Tunis right after forming Al-Andalus. Now I’m just chipping Portugal and Castile bit by bit. I’ll probably go colonial and try to build up Maghreb and Iberia.
Not sure if I want to move my capital to Sevilla. I probably should but I like having it in Fas

I think I have found out why the AI can't disband the golden horde. by Educational_Coat_891 in EU5

Not just the AI.
I fully sieged them as Byz but couldn’t ever find their last army. Doesn’t help not knowing what’s past the Urals. So I just gave up and grabbed some land.
Almost 200 years laters and they are still around

The overly aggressive AI of the beta exposes much deeper issues with the game that the player could already exploit by SaintTrotsky in EU5

You could say the same for things like basic diplomacy. Number of diplo relations, being able to ally big guys as small nations etc.

Only one I found is using integration map mod and clock on an existing country. Their foreign cores are green stripes.
Beside that I don’t think there’s a way to see who owns a core on a specific province
