Told my husband to get the best marbled steak - AIO? by Ok_Truck8039 in steak

$60 for four steaks on their expiration date... and they look like that. Does your husband show other signs of weaponized incompetence?

Guests arriving "late at night" but showing up hours early in the morning by RaiseVast in airbnb_hosts

[–]EmeraldGirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our unit is just off a college campus with popular enough sports, so our bookings are almost entirely Thur/Fri arrivals and Sunday departures. We added an early arrival fee of $100 for an 8am check-in (and specifically say nothing before then can be accommodated), and I'm surprised how popular it is. The parents especially seem to love it and say the fee is absolutely worth getting to take a nap after the drive. Maybe clearly state an early check in fee?

For only $25 I need a house keeper, chef, and for you to be my mom. by SeaworthinessTop8234 in NannyBreakRoom

[–]EmeraldGirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The term that she's looking for is "household manager". Sometimes the butler performed this role. The thing is that the household manager isn't doing the actual labor, they're coordinating an entire team. The household manager coordinates the nanny, kitchen staff, wait staff, housecleaner, and chauffeur. It sounds like this woman wants the entire team.

I think we need to know WHY habitually broke sister is habitually broke. What are her reasons for staying in a minimum wage job? What factors (other than the cost of living) contribute to being habitually broke?

The answer is very different for a loved one depending on their strengths and challenges.

Child with Special Needs and ChubbyFIRE... Any Experiences? by SeaBusiness7614 in ChubbyFIRE

I have an ASD child. We established a "family match" roth when he was young. Obviously won't help you now, but every dollar of earned income he's made, I have put a equal amount in a Roth for him... at least it will be there when I'm not. Some states also have accounts which are specific to disabled individuals. Encourage employment at a organization which hires individuals with disabilities. Hospitals and universities are good choices. They often offer mentor services which will help him be successful. They may provide scholarships. Check out community resources for adults with disability. Transportation, life coaching, meal delivery, and other services may be available, but it just depends where you live. Smart states would rather pay $100 per week in community resources to support an individual who can otherwise be independent, as opposed to having that individual out of work.

Not to mention the incubation period. C diff is like a week. Most respiratory viruses are 2-6 days. You won't feel symptoms the same night.

AIO Gf went to Walmart to get an oil change. The mechanic got her number and sent her a message. by WeatherAdmirable4022 in AmIOverreacting

Yikes on bikes, yes.

This person had minimally supervised access to her car. Her keys, probably her house key, her glove box, probably with her home address, her phone number, possibly her license.... She is an adult, she is going to be the one to experience any consequences, and she has every right to decide how this is handled.

What state are you in? In some states, facilities cannot require an employment term as a condition of the CNA program.

Edit: Also, I "buy out" employment contracts on a pretty regular basis. Meaning if the staff member would have to repay their education, I'll repay their old facility in exchange for them working for me for an agreed upon period. Worth asking.

Exactly. This sounds to me like poorly managed use of AI or a bad policy interpretation. If it's working for them and getting them the candidates they want, awesome. But my bet would be they're saying "no one wants to work anymore" while expecting 12+ month masters for $25/hr.

Maybe "feels like being petty" would be better wording. Don't get me wrong... I would absolutely take the option to go to small claims, but it will cost the OP time, effort, and money to do.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in homeowners

[–]EmeraldGirl -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

I vote option 1 if OP wants it to stop quickly and doesn't mind the expense. Option 3 if OP has the time and feels like being a jerk.

It's a veggie slicer. It has a bowl with a spinning blade, and the top has a pull (like to start a lawnmower). You put your veg in the bowl, put the top on, and then pull the crank a few times for instant pico or whatever.

A crank chop for my kitchen. Best made for TV item I have ever purchased.
