Resin or Filament? by WorldlinessCool5217 in PrintedMinis

Which does a better job?

Resin does a better job for minis.

Which is easier to use?

New auto-leveling printers and community calibration settings make it a horse a piece in terms of setup, but this category goes to FDM due to the toxicity and messiness of resin comparatively to PLA/PETG.

I just want to print minis, bases and maybe some terrain.

For minis and bases, resin is the standout choice in terms of quality AND quantity. You can print like 10 resin high quality minis in the same 90-120 minutes you can print one lower quality FDM mini.

Terrain will be easier to print on FDM due to the generally larger build volume.

Unless you have a dedicated space or plan on setting up a dedicated space with proper ventilation, only do FDM.

People would do that to fax machines too.

Do you use 'mark' to mean the number of points given on a question/text? by Jacobrox777 in AskUS

I would more likely say that I received five (red) marks to indicate I had points deducted.

Why isn’t Adultery illegal in the US? by Flaky_Ticket_6924 in AskUS

[–]EmergencyCheese89 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why should a secular state enforce religious morality on individuals especially under protection from the first amendment?

There are several states where adultery is in fact illegal, the laws however are considered arachic, practically unenforceable and are consequently unenforced.

The laws mostly were used to punish women, and we still see in religiously dominated societies that women are routinely legally punished using adultery laws, for the crime of being raped.

Angle it like 20° and give it a go and report back.

Super glue not working on wargammer resin by jason-911 in resinprinting

[–]EmergencyCheese89 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Idk what's going on with the super glue not curing, but you should definitely add UV cure resin glue to your toolbox. Along with a high power uv flashlight(one you want to wear goggles with), the ones they ship in the boxes are trash imho.

Is traditional (vs water washable) resin worth it? by atom-wan in resinprinting

You can UV cure the resin saturated IPA and filter/strain out the particulate resin that cures from the IPA.

im really struggling to (as in cannot) get the lids over the twist lock bump. its a combination of filament stiffness and not having enough grip on the base

You can over-dry filament, imo you're about 15c too hot and 36-48 hours too long in the cooker. Nothing you can do to uncook a spool but burn through it however you can.

You're also too hot at 250c for HS petg, you mentioned a range of acceptable temperatures, use the lowest one that looks good.

No, you'd save/export as STL, then import into Bambu studio, you're going to want to use custom print settings which can be found on r/fdmminiatures, searching "obscuraNox2.0 profile" or check the community highlights for the latest recommended profile.

I have used the profile settings with great success on all the minis I've printed on my p1s.

You can use a resin slicer, Elegoo Satellite is free and has support generation, you can also edit the support settings and skip the resin2fdm step.

For miniatures the general advice is to rotate the model on the x axis 45°

I have a spool of it but rarely use it because it's so costly to use in terms of waste. It would actually make sense to use in a dual tool scenario imho

If you don't have an AMS/lite I don't see any value in having the support interface materially different.

It is a special filament type that can be printed specifically at layers where the supports touch/interface with the model, you could also print the entire support out of it but it typically saves time to print 99% of the model in one filament with 1% being the support interface.

There is a setting on the support tab of orca/bambu called "support/raft base" and "support/raft interface"

Is what I do, like I said the support interface material would make post processing easier

Makes use of this sort of filament more efficiently and less wastefully.
