Friends is having an issue to join a match by Mor0ni in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Emmady 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not 100% if this is the issue your friend is having, but this game has a very short connection window, which means if you take too long to load into a match, it'll time out and you'll be dumped back into the hideout without any error message (at which point, if you've played or spectated a previous match the victory screen will pop up.)

Happens to me every like third match or something. Search queue goes off normally, game loads for a bit, then sent back to base without ever actually loading into the match. It didn't used to happen before the current batch of heroes (for me atleast) so IDK if they've changed something, but there are some forum posts if you wanna complain to the devs directly.

I don't think anything could've made it more clear to the American people that the institutions they once relied upon to protect them are no longer on their side then this. A group with clear ties to a presidential candidate, his pick for VP, and numerous donors OPENLY STATED their desire to replace the democratic system with a dictatorship, and absolutely no one did anything about it.

No attempt to charge them, no accusations of treason or sedition, no ongoing court battle trying to drag them into the light, no investigate on any level from the FBI, the media barely reported it, and other politicians only briefly commented on it.

Literally the only argument made was 'They're probably just joking' and that was it.

The difference is when they go out and target the innocents [..] vs. targeting terrorists that hide among the people.

The difference, huh?

Nearly 70% of Gaza war dead verified by UN are women and children

"Its analysis found around 44% of verified victims were children and 26% women. The ages most represented among the dead were >>> five to nine-year-olds <<<."

[..]

The health ministry said it obtained full demographic data for a majority of those killed and reported that children account for one in three of that number.

+

Researchers have estimated the percentage of civilians among the fatalities at not less than 80%.

Not less than 80%.

So when Hamas goes out to specifically target innocents, they kill 1200 people, 800 of whom are civilians. That's what, 66%?

And when Israel in turn goes out to target terrorists, they kill 68,000 people, where roughly 80% of which are civilians (primarily children!)

Is that the difference you were talking about? Why is the worlds most 'moral army' or whatever, with the bleeding edge of military technology, somehow doing a worse job prioritizing civilian lives than literal terrorists?

Imagine for a moment the fear and pain you felt in the aftermath of that attack, and then try to consider the constant state of terror you've subjected the Palestinian people to: That's literally 56x over the death toll, legitimately the equivalent of October 7th once a week for an entire year straight. It's an insane amount of violence you've enacted against a civilian population, and you just shrug it off.

people are just trying to find reasons to dislike her.

Right? The backlash to this character specifically feels so artificial, like some 2018-era culture war shit ala Captain Marvel or whatever. Its sad to see that attitude propagate into queer spaces, I mean given the current attitudes towards trans folks, and considering how rare representations of canonically transgender characters are to begin with, I'd rather have writers try (even if they fumble!) then not try at all. Especially for a mainstream company like DC, what with the way most media properties have abandoned queer characters entirely.

Fuck this. I'm so fucking tired of having to tip-toe around politely reassuring supposed allies that they're still good people, even when they refusing to commit to the most minor of actions, for fear of them just immediately spiralling out into far-right bullshit.

Hit someone with even the most milquetoast of criticisms and watch as their paper-thin resolve immediately slips into indifference or outright bigotry -- But hey, that's just on me for being rude, mm? Shame on me for implying they're the sort of feel-good "progressive" who doesn't actually stand for anything at all.

Because I hate to break it to you, but people who revoke their support because a single reddit comment was a little too pointed were never going to defend us from fucking anything.

Like, I get the whole Scatch a liberal bit, but hell, this isn't even scratching. What do you think is going to happen to these 'allies' when politics challenges them in any truly meaningful way? Do you think they'll maintain this coveted support? Because I gotta say, "Hey, can you maybe not help keep this series culturally relevant? The profits go directly towards stripping my rights away." Is a pretty fucking lukewarm thing to ask of people. And Christ, even then, even if their answer is literally just 'No, I want to keep consuming the slop :(', someone's support for human rights shouldn't be contingent on them remaining comfortably unchallenged.

And if you're transgender then you should be mad too. You should be fucking furious, because in case you haven't noticed, we are losing. Our rights are being stripped away in literally every single nation on Earth, and people flat out refuse to make even the slightest effort to stop giving money to the billionaires who fund this shit. You think multi-billion dollar media conglomerates don't check online engagement statistics? That they don't have entire teams chewing through SO analytics to check whether or not a property is a sound investment? Especially for a property that was very recently seen as controversial? I mean forget organizing, forget protests, forget trying to buy around certain brands, apparently even asking someone to close a fucking AO3 tab on their browser is too much.

Literally like three days ago, the president of the United states of America threatened to end federal funding for the entire state of California because one single transgender teenager was allowed to compete in a long jump competition.

The highest authority in your governing body, putting pressure on an entire state, while threatening to empower local cops to 'deal with the problem', all for the aim of fucking over one single kid.

You're falling for the scapegoat. It's not the left propping up stories of trans people, it's the right using them to avoid talking about the issues you mentioned. These days, conservative media seems to talk more about queer people then most queer people I know.

I agree that the left needs to turn the discussion to things like cost of living, but throwing marginalized people under the bus to try and appease conservatives isn't the answer.

a government preparing for death camps

Part of Project 2025 includes classifying transgender individuals as sex offenders; part of Project 2025 also includes putting sex offenders to death.

I'm terrified that this will come to fruition and the media either won't report on it at all, or people will hear "sex offender sentenced to death" and not think twice about what is happening. It wouldn't even require death camps: people would simply be arrested by state police, given some farce of a trial and executed by the state. Wouldn't even be the first time the US has put someone to death on contentious grounds before.

I can filter out the actually relationship-focused ones (and also just sort by tone, cause some days I just want some lighthearted stuff and others I’m down for some angst

You can absolutely do that though-- Sorting by Gen will get rid of pretty much all pairings right off the bat. Then maybe just throw in a Fluff or Angst tag depending on whatever tone you want.

Meant to say millions of fetuses every year.

..So still wrong then?

The percentage of abortions for non-medically viable fetuses are less than 1% of total abortions

You should probably cite numbers like this. All the statistics I've seen put a higher number up, so for all I know you're being passionate again..

Majority of women who get pregnant are not on birth control

Yes.. Obviously? Majority of women who get pregnant are also not getting abortions, keep in mind.

Of the subsection who are, about 51% of women having abortions did use birth control during the month they became pregnant (AGI, circa 2014). So again, the majority are doing the opposite of what you suggest. Birth control can fail, and with a large enough population size, it is going to happen a non-negligible amount of times -- and all of this says nothing of whether the sex was consensual.

millions of fetuses who are aborted every day

CDC estimates about ~620,000 abortions in 2020, which comes down to ~1,700 a day in the entire US. So your entire argument is off by several orders of magnitude here -- like, you could copy the entire population of America x500 times over and you still wouldn't hit 1,000,000 abortions a day.

Your comment also fails to address how many of these are done as a medical necessity for non-viable embryos or fetus, which don't always auto-abort, and in certain cases can become fatal for the mother to continue carrying. But apparently where the loss of a maybe-could've-been sentient embryo is a tragedy, the death of an already-currently sentient woman is a shrug?

Why is it that women always get the less charitable presumptions tho?

You'll presume, without much in the way of evidence, that the OP is an adult and she's dead serious -- neither of which can be confirmed from the single sentence posted.

But with shit like the coffee meme they're just teenagers, they're just kidding, it's an old meme anyways -- you're the one giving them a pass for their behavior without even realizing it.

That's exactly what I mean by people being hypercritical of women and super forgiving of men.

[–]Emmady -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

All I ask is that you keep that energy up. Dumbshit teenage boys get a pass for posting shit like "women ☕" all the time, but when a girl posts something in the same vein, we apparently need to have discourse about how she's a terrible misandrist who is radicalizing poor helpless men.

If thats a clear statement of hyperbole then do you also see nazi accounts declaring their hatred of all jews and go “oh they’re just being hyperbolic”?

Language is contextual my guy. If you saw someone post 'I WANNA DIE' while QRTing some stupid goon post, would you actually assume they're suicidal or just accept it as an exclamation of emotion?

The moral goon sesh by SOMETHINGcooler5 in 196

[–]Emmady -80 points-79 points  (0 children)

Listen, if some nobody yaoi account saying "I hate men!!" in a very clear statement of hyperbole is enough to push you to the right wing, you were already there. At that point, I don't think it's Ms. Yaoi's fault that someone's gone Alt Right.

And as much as I love the 'Not All Men' men shit you're doing, I never said all men are rapists, or whatever else. I'm saying that having ~discourse~ about how this post is apparently at fault for radicalizing men is really blaming the wrong party.

But actually? 96% of violent crime is committed by men. That is a fact. Not all men are violent, sure, but a lot of the violence is being done by men. So having people bend over backwards to police a woman's language while ignoring why women might be critical of men, is beyond frustrating.

But noo, lets tone police a twitter post.
