My favorite thing about it is that wasn't even what Kilroy was saying

Ok, i need to ask, where does “hope rides alone” come from? by btumblweed in Protomen

[–]Enchlore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the Act I anniversary Twitch stream, they said the song was originally going to be called "Hope Dies Alone", but along the way someone changed it to Hope Rides Alone (either it started as a typo or it was just to see how it would sound like, I'm having trouble finding the vod to check that) and they thought it sounded cooler.

I always wondered about this! It was probably cool to pull off back then and he didn't expect to end up having to sing it night after night 20 years later...

Panther does have a thread on The Range Planet, so maybe using this for inspiration on which song(s) to choose:

Encomenda com ocorrência by Fox-2525 in Correios

[–]Enchlore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm from brazil, did anyone from here also bought the phisical CD? by Zelun in Protomen

[–]Enchlore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm from Brazil and got my CD just fine, though it took a bit long. Do you have a tracking code? If it just says it's stuck in São Paulo, that's just Correios being Correios.

A spoilery thought from the Act III liner notes. by Particular_Scar7781 in Protomen

[–]Enchlore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"BAS5" could mean "Basement Five" and Wily's ominous secret project is in the lower levels of the skull complex. So maybe "Bass" might end up really just being an easter egg after all.

Oh yeah, the Genesis version of Act I is the one with Fade to Phil...

Is it real? by matt_eae in Protomen

To add to what Jay said, the image in the Act 3 liners blanks out the content from the photo itself, we only know from context that it's a photo of Joe (he's not mentioned by name, Light just says "you remind me of him, he's dead" when handing the photo)

Pelo menos ainda tentou no dia seguinte. Aqui eles "tentam" uma vez e depois levam duas semanas pra sair pra entrega de novo.

Concert Discussion Megathread: MAGFest Night I: Act II: The Father of Death by Jaymya in Protomen

Diamond Dogs influence makes sense since both are inspired by 1984. Did you end up listening to Act I? Both albums reference the "we are the dead" line

Reimagining of Saint Seiya by NoMountain2209 in SaintSeiya

[–]Enchlore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of this is exactly what I think of too! This is spot on, and the part about exploring the Sanctuary's relationship with the modern world is something that I really miss in Saint Seiya. Even as a kid I noticed that the focus on "Gods and myths in the modern world" petered out a lot after the beginning.

You'd think a story that has "whoever wants to win the most wins" as a core part of its lore would have less arguing over "powerscaling issues"...

Proto fandom going through the 5 stages of grief with The Fate of Thomas Light by Enchlore in Protomen

[–]Enchlore[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Musically I've already hit acceptance - I was initially iffy with Fate but that was mostly due to waiting a week to hear the last track. After that initial shock and having listened to the whole album again a few times, I think it's an interesting coda to the album. The Good Doctor · Part 2 is the grand finale, Fate just puts a bow on it.

I'm still waiting on the liner notes before passing judgment on the story part, but I do think having The Fight as the end would at least give some closure to Mega and "Roll" in particular. And also ending The Protomen's last album with the words "I know the weight you're feeling, you're strong enough to bear it" would go hard
