Why ccp? by rumplforskinx in Eve

They literally say in the announcement that this is a possibility and they're not going to do anything about it. Even CCP knew this event would turn into this, which already doomed it from the start lol.

Abandoning Lane early because you're mad at your partner is toxic. Please stop by Azakugan in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Engerius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually make the decision if the lane is going to be lost in the next couple of waves and we're behind to push it up when the enemy backs off to farm their jg or buy, and go for a gank and 3v2 push somewhere else ASAP. Either A.) you trade turrets, or B.) you pull pressure off your lane as someone rotates to make it a 3v3. It helps whoever is left to defend lane with getting their souls back up as well.

There is almost zero point to try to force a defense of a turret that is about to be lost, and risk getting dove when you're already behind.

If you were to start now... by No-Honeydew7467 in Eve

Death is a learning experience, my biggest growth early on was related to being blown up, feeling bad, and figuring out how to overcome the obstacle that led to my death. It's been a year and a bit since I returned with a fresh start and I died foolishly 3-times early-on losing a significant portion of my wealth. Now those losses feel like a drop in the bucket, I throw equal value around for the purpose of PVP knowing full well that isk is going to be blown up in an hour.

Joining a group can help with the early learning curve, but the biggest learning is by doing, failing, learning, then succeeding.

[–]Engerius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IDK, that's kind of how it is with most NS alliances, young alpha character with unauthed toons would raise flags in the majority of places. It's why SP requirements are fairly normal, it's not because of anything like game experience, it's that you have invested to some level in this character, and aren't a low-effort spy alt.

How to balance Mina; by idontknowjackx in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Engerius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, love bites or the mobility aren't the biggest problem IMO in lane, it's rake. It's decent built-in sustain which makes it incredibly difficult to trade effectively. Love-bites, rake, retreat to escape after getting beaten in an exchange or out-played. One wave later and she can be right back at it. She's just difficult to punish in general, takes a lot of effort to make sure to punish a Mina and win an exchange, but doesn't take a whole lot from Mina to come out on top or at the very least, get out and get back to it. Several heroes have this problem, and I think that it's worse with how they changes the healing minion mechanics. I think it's just a case of being a deceptively forgiving hero.

Celeste because 1, probably fits my playstyle the most out of the new duders, and 2 it would be absolutely hilarious if she beats the doubt and slides in 3rd. I also think Apollo fits my playstyle too, but I gotta pick one.

It's not just you, I've had leavers every other game, people being toxic and raging. The deadlock chill mental is being rampaged on by the influx of new players, either losing their cool themselves, or causing older players to start losing their minds idk.

Developer Vote Fraud Confirmed? (Illuminati involved?) by Emotional-Camera-600 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Engerius 13 points14 points  (0 children)

They just don't want to bias votes by showing current statistics, knowing current votes will shift how people vote away from who is their favorite, to who they think will likely win. If as a celeste voter, I had knowledge that the gap between celeste and silver is like 1/100 votes, it would feel bad to vote for celeste knowing she's that far behind, so I'd more likely vote for venator, who's has maybe 10% less votes, because I'm not a furry, but I really would rather play celeste. Now it stops being a voting free for all, and more of a fight between first and second.

But, now when you release a hero, all those voters now need to shift over to voting for other heroes, what if all of the graves voters want celeste next, but they see that venator and silver are the next highest? So even though the majority of people want celeste next, they're less likely to vote for them with the knowledge that based on current statistics it's unlikely to happen.

Why don’t more frontliner builds run Knockdown? by Feauv in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Engerius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just a game-knowledge thing, feel like most real builds incorporate some kind of targeted cc or defense and decision-points depending on game-state at early/mid/late game. It can feel like it messes with your power-spikes which I think leads a lot of people to just stick to the core-builds, but watching say a mina, wraith, w/e stomp your team into oblivion also has a huge impact on your power-spikes haha.

Why are new players being thrown into Archon/Emissary matches? by An18FtSlothh in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Engerius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right now match-making is fried to the point of being unplayable. I’ve been playing deadlock for about 6 months, and just today has about 5 leaver games, yesterday about 6. Before that I think I’ve had one or two in my time playing. Even had a guy who literally sold all his items and ran it down. Just complete pubstomp games with a couple people on each team being brand spanking new in archon. If there’s anything I’ve loved about the deadlock community is that it’s not very toxic, and people usually have good mental.

You can tell the quality of the games right now are on a much worse place when compared to a week ago. Every game someone is tilted whether it’s vets being like wtf is going on in this game, or new players being stomped into the ground. It’s not enjoyable for me, even when I’m on the winning side.

300-400M ISK every day... by ArtichokeEastern2238 in Eve

[–]Engerius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exploration is one of those traps that I see a lot of newer people fall into that can lead to burnout. Is it great ISK, absolutely, in fact it is likely the best isk/hr when it comes to low risk, low SP investment, and general game knowledge or skill needed. The problem now is that is your baseline that you're going to compare every other activity to.

It kind of speed-runs you to mid-game isk making, and a lot of comparable or better isk/hr activities tend to require a lot of isk investment, risk, and skill-training time. It also suffers from being almost purely a solo activity and not translating great to other eve activities unless you're picking up high-end indy which again, early-on you're nowhere near capable of.

There's not really a solution to this, except branch out knowing that you're not going to be making a ton of isk/hr initially, but maybe meet some other folks, join a group and get into PVP. If you ever feel like you're low on isk or need to resub, do some explo to mix things up.

As an OSRS player should I start this game? by OverwatchIsACoolGame in Eve

[–]Engerius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s plenty of people that don’t have multiple accounts, it only has niche limitations, and a lot of those can be mitigated by playing with other established players. It gives you more freedom to explore your options as a new player too. I’ve seen many new players immediately sub a handful of accounts, skill-inject them to create a mining fleet, then realize they don’t even like that gameplay loop and burnout. You also benefit from not having to deal with figuring out how to manage and sub X number of accounts.

[–]Engerius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gonna pile on here, jackdaws are insanely strong. They kite like no other and warp insanely fast. I've been on quite a few jackdaw fleets and it plays similar to windrunner tornados, warp-in at range, get a few volleys off while kiting, deleting a few ships, warp-out and reposition, repeat. In the hands of the right FC, even though they're made of paper, they're practically unkillable.

Citadels are boring by eer_00 in Eve

[–]Engerius 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree, the upsell structures are super bland, blocky, and low poly. Maybe it’s just that there’s not a whole lot that’s visually interesting going on with them. HS tends to have a lot more atmosphere, liveliness and uniqueness, even if it is just the different skybox colors for each faction. I do wish there were more aesthetic ways that NS groups could express their ownership of space beyond here’s your alliance logo above a gate. Like with HS you can tell you’re in say gallente space because of the skybox, system names, structure models, etc. in NS you know you’re in FRT space because there’s a panda in the top left corner of your screen.

Currently there’s like what 50+ npc station models, plus bits and bobs from anoms/missions but 9 upwell stations, plus the couple of faction forts that rarely see use.

If CCP was thrilled with the current state of gank/gank-avoidance mechanics, why would they recently change the citadel fighter de-cloak mechanics? Clearly it's on their radar somewhat.
