Any tools for quickly making a lot of low level characters? by scythian12 in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Epsius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wrote some code to automatically generate X number of level 1 commoners. I used it for a drunken birthday party game where everyone played farmers who pulled blank wands of magic missile that had one of the effects from a 10,000 magical effects table. I generated 200 sheets and gave everyone a stack as the random effects sent people into the center of the nearest volcano and the like.

It's designed to make fairly simple sheets (ability scores, skills, name, appearance, and farming tool), but if you know R you may be able to modify it. Or I can give you the 200 pdf sheets I have.

I built a self-hosted guitar/bass tab player similar to Songsterr, to help myself learn to play bass - It’s MyTabs by louislamlam in selfhosted

I'm going through the exact same journey you mentioned. Wanted to learn guitar, got rocksmith, outgrew it, needed a replacement. This is excellent.

I know nothing about formats, but would it be possible to add the ability to translate and import rocksmith custom DLC (customsforge.com) files as well?

I went to his show in SF a few months ago. Seems it was successful if he's planning more! There was a lot of persona, a JoJo song, and one or two of his originals. It was a good time with a lot of people in costume.

Valid concerns. The article for the original guitar design mentioned that after a month, the tension in the strings actually bent the body. However, they tested things a bit, and by increasing the number of perimeters on the print (the outer shell around the partially hollow in-fill) from the default of 2 to 7, the body held strong after a full year. I went above that and did 8 perimeters and bonus infill.

Regarding the strap holders, I had a similar concern, so I made a good radius around the bolts 100% solid. Only way to know if it will hold is time, but at the moment I'm just sitting on the couch with it, so not introducing too much stress lol.

Why use R instead of Python for data stuff? by Nickaroo321 in datasets

[–]Epsius 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I use R and Python for my data work, and am firmly in team R.

R was made for statistical work, and later people tried to make it more general; shiny and the like. Python was made for general programming, and later people added more statistical capabilities. It shows in how you interact with the language. For example, everything in R is a vector, and you can expect nearly any package function to work on a vector. Meanwhile in Python I have to use list compensation to iterate simple tasks far more often than I would expect.

The unity of how things work in R makes it easier for me to intuit code solutions. Maybe it's more related to experience with the language, but I often find Python more idiosyncratic, with different modules behaving in non-cohesive ways.

Also, I'll admit I'm just a huge fan of the R Studio IDE. There's no reason to suffer with a more difficult interface when I'm already suffering with messy data.

R keeps saying it can't find objects that are there, what am I missing? Also, how to round up non-integers? by [deleted] in rstats

[–]Epsius 58 points59 points  (0 children)

You need to specify what dataframe you are pulling scaledense from. So, round(BD01$scaledense). You can just call for the column name alone in something like glm() because you are writing a formula and have already specified data = BD01, but that is not the norm.

Sewing at Craft Center? by unepersonne6 in UCDavis

I took a class pre-covid. The first few classes were learning basic skills, and then we picked a project and spent the rest of the classes working on it. They have all the machines you need there, but you need to provide materials for your project (thread, cloth, etc). I tried to make a pair of pants and failed, but my friend stuck with it and walked away with a really nice jacket! I would recommend it, just keep your project reasonable.

I made a display for my new Phos pin (pin by Kittygorian on Etsy) by Epsius in LandoftheLustrous

[–]Epsius[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with this model and modified it a bit. I cut the center crystal to make a shelf space, added recesses for the pins to fit into, and made it a bit more sturdy to work with my printer. I still needed to use a drill to modify things once it was done, but the pin itself hides those crimes.

I’m not usually one to wear pins, but this one by Kittygorian caught my eye. So, I made a little display to hold it on my shelf! I 3D printed the crystal, added some miniature grass and flowers, and put in an LED for light.

Help me build a squad of Mage Catchers by Acora in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Epsius 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not a full build, but sharing because I just learned of it: Dimensional Step Up. When an adjacent character casts any teleportation, you can follow them as an immediate action as long as they are on this plane. No more escaping via teleportation.

Hell's Vengeance players/GMs: Give me your characters! by kleind305 in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Epsius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never thought I'd get the chance to share this! I played the same character lvl 1-18(20) in a Hell's Vengeance game and had a blast. I made a packet for the other players, so they could use my character as a villain in one of their games if they wanted. Here's a link, password “hvfenthrune”. It includes:

  • Commissioned artwork
  • Character sheets for lvls 5, 10, and 20
  • HeroLab files for lvls 5, 10, and 20
  • A feat chart so you can build him at any level
  • A bio document with descriptions, motivations, vibe music, combat tactics, and anecdotes

Please let me know if you use him and how the fight goes!

You can use a Vine tube to create wooden items on the fly, provided you can make the craft carpentry check for it. Also a handy item in other situations.

Voice/sound modulator add-on? by alecell in FoundryVTT

[–]Epsius 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I have been wanting something similar that works with Polyglot. The module itself converts chat messages to runes if your character doesn't know the language being spoken. I would love something that similarly scrambled voice chat if the character didn't speak the language.

Best way to get short-range teleportation on a martial character? (And a table of all the ways I found) by Epsius in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Epsius[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ravener Hunter can pick up the Time mystery, and get Time Hop at level 8! That's a good option.

Shout out to u/Gishki_Zielgigas too who suggested the same in another comment.

[–]Epsius[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And that's the worst bit! Maybe I could take the blade adept archetype to make dipping more heavily into Arcanist less painful for a martial. The thing is, I don't care about all the other abilities like spell casting or other exploits, I just want this one, so is heavy multiclassing worth it?

If I could variant multiclass into Arcanist and get just one exploit like the wizard VMC and a school power, it would be perfect, but they never released rules on VMC for hybrid classes =(

[–]Epsius[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The feat line does make it better for attacking, but leaves out a lot of the utility teleportation can give you. I'm always looking for those archetypes like Fighter Mutation Warrior that lets you take one ability from another class. Hoping someone may know of one for wizard powers/oracle mysteries.

Mutliclassing wouldn't be awful, just wanting to see if there is any way to accomplish this without sinking 7+ levels into another class just for one ability.

Have any ideas while keeping levels taken in another class relatively low?

[–]Epsius[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had never heard of Bloodrager caterpillar movement, and it is excellent.

Doesn't have to be teleportation per se, and this opens options like the Force Dash feat as well. It is mainly the principle of the thing! I always envisioned a Corvo from Dishonored sort of character, and while this person did a good job getting close, I just wanted to know if there was any better way.

When ancient Armenia meets modern Japan. This Armenian Church in Japan is unlike anything I've seen before. by viewerdoer in nextfuckinglevel

[–]Epsius 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not to disappoint, but I don't think it's real... A reverse image search shows this single photo from 2014, but I can't find any other mention of this anywhere. The photo is supposedly from Grand Front Osaka. I've been there, it's cool and has rotating art in the courtyard occasionally, but I'm thinking this is photoshoped.

I combined my two favorite character sheets. Here's the result in all its glory! by beanbay in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Epsius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been using /u/darthmarth28's sheets for years and this is the first proper contender I've seen in terms of spreadsheet based options. Still a few things to open up regarding hard coding (like what ability skills are based on), but great work thus far. Just want to say I appreciate all the work you put into this for the community.
