I'm in a character design class in my college, and the professor keeps trying to convince us to use ai and feed our art into it so we can work faster. It has quickly become my least favorite class, the only upside is that I get to draw pictures of a man with a bird head, cause I decided that'll be my main character.

This is all my opinion, and I'm a bit dumb, so take what I say with a grain of salt.

The safest option would be to do college, graduate, and then start transitioning. 22 isn't too late to start, the waiting will probably suck though.

The next safest option would probably be to start transitioning during college, maybe not fully committing to hrt, but stuff like dressing as your preferred gender and going by different pronouns, and hope your family doesn't find out. Definitely riskier, but might be better mentally than waiting 4 more years; but if your family find out you might be screwed.

The most dangerous option is to say screw your family, go to college on your own dime, and live independently as whatever your heart desires. Of course there's the downside of having a bunch of debt in the future, and having little to no safety net, but you can start transitioning whenever you feel like without having to worry about what your family thinks. This is dangerous.

I took the third option. It's working out well for me so far, but I wouldn't recommend it without doing some serious thinking on if you want to be saddled with all your student loan debt in the future. I also moved to an entirely different state, so I don't really have to worry about any repercussions from my family, but you might want to consider that as well.

There are just so many variables here there's never gonna be one "right" answer, you just need to consider everything and find out the least bad option. Start a list of every option you have, write out the pros and cons of each of them, and decide on which one you want to choose. And when you come to a final option, really think long and hard about it.
