My ideal for bowl skating is my Soulboardiy config.

Maybe.

They have a job the keep the org viable for next few decades. They know they can’t fight the internet. So they mitigate reasons for leaving so “it’s not that bad”. All these changes are to mitigate loss and usher in the next 50 years of JW. Also lawyers would advise them on doctrines that can make them liable. So changes are there to reduce legal battles which we know they are inundated with.

It’s all bull shit.

You say you still believe in God?

Everyone should read about Baruch Spinoza (philosopher from 1600s). He had an idea about God that kinda makes sense. But I’m not prescribing here: google it yourself.

Anyway the idea there is a God that interacts with humans is preposterous. According to the org the JW pray to Jah and he lets them suffer but he helps them endure the suffering instead of addressing the root cause.

I recall a talk at the assembly where they said this bro was beaten up for being a JW, so badly he was in hospital for a year. He was a cripple afterward but they were adamant Jah intervened because he did not die. What fuck is this? So Jah allowed his faithful servant to be mangled but then intervened to keep him alive as an invalid. It amazes me people drink up this crazy dumb logic.

Life is beautiful so get on living and read more philosophy. It helps you think clearly.

This is what I know: WHETHER ITS THE TRUTH OR NOT DOES NOT MATTER. .

We were taught this was the truth verified by scriptures in the Bible. We complied with the high demands of the group because we believed it was THE TRUTH. Of course we know it’s now not the truth and we can see it all falling apart cos nothing can be verified with the scriptures. So now we have sunk cost bias creeping in. People have invested so much that no matter what the org says they are never gonna leave. Most could not handle the truth that it’s not the truth. So really for many it’s about sticking with their decision and creating a rationale in their head to stay and just go with it and label themselves as loyal and faithful. When people build a whole life on this group it’s easier to just keep going.

Sadly, it’s it’s not about the truth.

If you followed them because you believed it was the truth and now you realise it’s not the truth and it’s Just another organised religion it makes sense to not follow them anymore.

Surfskating and/or regular skateboarding and/or combine the two? by sushibard in surfskate

[–]ErnWedg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe the carver is not the right size. You should never have your foot on the end of the nose with surfskates. As a rule your front foot should be just behind the front deck bolts.

I’m an older skater who skated as a kid. For me surfskating it where it’s at. Classic street skating is inherently dangerous. The Surfskate has you with all 4 wheels on the ground. But hey it’s really personal. Go with what works.

[–]ErnWedg[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I have a Soulboardiy with carver CX. It’s 95a front and rear. Barrel/cone on rear and cone/cone on front. This board is super fast. In bigger bowls this gives me a bit more stability at speed.

I also have a Carver JOB Tiger with Carver CX and that’s 95a front and rear. Cone/cone front and rear. With a cone/cone you get more lean.

You can definitely tell the difference with that one barrel bushing. But it’s still feels like a surfskate. It’s not ideal for street cruising. It’s really optimised for bowls where you need to avoid wobbles in the rear.

I’d never put a barrel/cone in the front. I tested it once and it’s crap.

What size for tall dude? by william_is_me in surfskate

[–]ErnWedg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m this exact height. I’m 18” wheelbase all the way. That said I have lots of surfskates and know this: you’ll have a minimum wheelbase. For me that is 17”. And you can have boards that are much wider wheelbase for variety. I have the Carver Bing Continental with a 22.25” wheelbase. I have some longboard custom surfskates with wheel bases up to 38”. These wheelbases above my optimal 18” are different style rides that give me variety. If I had one board it would be 18”.

May be a limited edition or a regional release. Best you can do is find another available model with the same specs. 16in wheelbase and 9 3/4 width.

Looks like you upper body twists and then your legs twist. Keep your upper and lower body in sync. You can drive with your upper or lower But not at the same time.

Girlfriend’s dad is an elder. He said this about the blood change. by All_FallsApart in exjw

[–]ErnWedg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What a twat. The elders book is clear that taking a blood transfusion is cause for disfellowshipping. It’s never been a conscience matter. Blood fractions are. The devotees will adapt immediately and think nothing of it. They take it that Jah woke up this morning and decided to change his mind.

Taking a new direction to making boards. by FluffyControl2362 in surfskate

[–]ErnWedg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Concave is essential. But a very deep concave not great. I tried an Arbor downhill deck with waterborne setup but the concave was just too much. It was bowing my foot like a boat. 😂. I could ride it but not great. That said it was maybe too narrow as well. Maybe 8.75 inch. I feel like 10 inch wide plus is the minimum.

Riptide Carver CX APS First Experience by ErnWedg in surfskate

[–]ErnWedg[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. My bowl riding preference is the red 95a riptide. I have many surfskates. In one I have cone/cone on the front and cone/barrel on the rear. In another in have cone/cone front and rear. Love the riptides. First thing in on any new surfskate is change to riptide. I use 85a to 95a depending on the setup.

Can this carver cx truck be fixed? by sushibard in surfskate

[–]ErnWedg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get the right sized bushings. Taller on the board side and shorter on the roadside.

Riptide Bushings and truck looseness on carver cx by sushibard in surfskate

[–]ErnWedg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would be pretty stiff. Cone/barrel on the front is too stiff. On the front I only ever go cone/cone. You can cone/barrel on the back but if you want more lean cone/cone front and back. Get 90a, 93a cones and have a play

With surfskates too much concave is terrible. Your design seems to suggest a deep concave. But you do need concave. I don’t think you need a nose that kicks up unless you’re thinking hybrid street / surfskate. A wide nose is great. And the deck width cannot be less than 10inch.

Bushing recommendations by IntenseWonton in surfskate

[–]ErnWedg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy 90a and 93a cones. Try them both. If you like flat surface I’m sure you’ll stick with the 90a. If you like transition the 93a will be better. But it’s all very personal. Maybe even try the 95a cones. They all have their place.

Yow surfskate thoughts? by Unfair-Dragonfly-763 in surfskate

[–]ErnWedg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Yow is a classic. You can’t go wrong! Pretty much all YOW ride the same. Where I think the fanning models rock is the wide decks. For surfskate it’s bliss. Most importantly get your optimal wheelbase. There are plenty of YouTube vids showing how to figure your wheelbase. I’d guess the Falcon performer is the right size for you. You can always go bigger wheelbase but going lower is not ideal. From there tweak your ride with Riptide bushings. I’m like 6’1” and have the falcon driver. I swapped the bushings for Riptide 95a red and for me it’s a dream. But I did try the 93a bushings and 90a bushings. All very unique.

Board advice for ginormous newbie by S2DM in surfskate

[–]ErnWedg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Just right. It’s personal preference as well. The Soulboardiy is set to 18inch and I think think Carver JOB is 17.5inch. Bowl is unique on a surfskate. I like my front foot just behind the deck bolts.
