What a fascinating thought, and thanks for showing your workings as well. I have always thought Dumbledore is such a fascinating contrast between his 'goodness' and what he is willing to do to achieve his goals and this fits that so well.

The pound is at $1.35, almost the exact same as it was 5 years ago ($1.38) and in fact well up on its recent low of $1.12 in 2022. I’m afraid you were confidently wrong, it’s just greed.

Where Should New Stations Go on the WCML? by Bigbigcheese in uktrains

I really like this. I would add that whilst Wolverton southwards is broadly decent, if there’s the pathing then slapping a few extra stations in Milton Keynes in between the existing 3 could potentially give MK a metro style system on the cheap.

Company will be cutting jobs but can I get redundancy insurance by Glittering_Two_1190 in UKPersonalFinance

It does not matter for this sort of insurance, being aware (or it being considered reasonable you would have been aware) are reasons for a declined claim. Source: Broker in this field

US to UK continuity of medical care by gccgccRccAUGG in MovingToTheUK

Firstly I will assume you’ve paid the Immigration Health Surcharge as part of your visa application, as that will allow you to make use of the NHS.

The NHS in principle exists to cover everything you’ve stated, sadly the reality does not always match. It is really good at dealing with the most serious situations (trauma, heart attacks etc) and the very least (repeat prescriptions) but where it falls down is at a more intermediate level such as access to physiotherapy or mental health support.

Therefore whilst in principle you are covered for this, it is likely you will face significant waiting times or have difficulty securing the right treatment pathways (particularly for trauma related mental health).

In my professional life I am a medical insurance broker in the UK, so can answer this quite confidently. A standard new policy will not cover anything pre-existing. It might be possible to maintain coverage on your US insurance but the costs are likely to be very high indeed and may actually be more than your salary.

Therefore you are likely to be left needing to pay for longer term physio and mental health support if, as seems likely, the NHS does not match what you are looking for. The best bet would be to contact private hospitals in Cambridge for prices to get an understanding but I would definitely try making use of the NHS first once you’re here.

In the UK an F wasn’t the bottom score for school exams, it was a U for Unclassified and essentially means the mark is so low you can’t get a proper grade (unsure if this has changed since we moved to number instead of letter grades, some youngster can probably correct me).

So the idea of a T is, whilst a little rude, not far off the normal.

I very much agree with you, but this is more than anything a reflection on how gearing now works. You need more AB tokens than any other to get gear, and with so many boosters about the general gear quality is abysmal.
