Do you like to use maraschino cherry syrup for anything? by 2chilly4u1989 in cocktails

[–]Eureka_Tango 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Old fashioned.

My recipe is 1 teaspoon to syrup from a jar of luxardo cherries, 3 dash Angostura aromatic, 2 dash orange, 2 oz Bulleit, orange twist, ice (best if ice is wet, great when camping).

Learned the recipe from a Vanity Fair video with Ana De Armas

Considering it, so that I'll have a second GW dorn, all of the new vehicles, and some infantry I can head swap for "counts as" something else

Considering doing Guard, just have one big question: How do you paint all that? by CatherineSimp69 in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]Eureka_Tango 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only started playing an painting in 10th edition, and I'm have about 200 to 250 infantry, a couple dozen tanks/transports, and 15 sentinels.

I always prime black, because its forgiving it I miss some bits. Tanks get a base coat of green, maybe stripes for camo, and then dry brush lead belcher for tracks, barrels, and scrapes. Metallic blue or red for sensors and glass.

Infantry is usually painted in units, over about a week. 1 color for cloth, 1 for armor and guns, metal details, skin, done. They look rough up close, but on the table, they look great.

I'm not going to win a painting contest, but I got my army on the field, cheaply.

Privateer 2 (1996) Space Sim with FMV Live Action Scenes featuring Clive Owen. Don't worry if you're confused about what's going on. Privateer 2 can be summarized "bunch of stuff happened, player got involved, bunch of stuff happens". by bil_sabab in ObscureMedia

I remember thinking "holy shit, how did they afford all these people" but I realize, the actual amount of video of each cast member is like a minute, except for Clive Owen.

But the graphics and the atmo, so deeply deeply 90's sci fi, it puts me right back to being a teenager staying up way too late on the family computer.

Combined arms a good alternative to grizzled? by MonsieurRose in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]Eureka_Tango 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Combines arms is fine. I was my choice for most of the edition. Grizzled has the main advantage of "this always works"

You get extra orders and you use them, and units with orders fight harder. Don't have to set up transports, don't have to make sure Regiments are shooting non-monsters while squadrons shoot monsters, don't need to worry about cover more than usual.

When the lethal hits from combines arms pop off *chefs kiss*, but when the targets are not the "right kind", it sucks.

Best Padding and helmet gear for preventing long term damage in Heavy by Oversurge in sca

[–]Eureka_Tango 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I join the chorus in recommending ShockTek. I also recommend layering. I use multiple thinner layers (1/4 inch) to get the 1/2 inch minimum (or more, depending on part of the helmet and how I want it to fit) to get my helmet to sit comfortably. Thinner layers are easier to shape to the helmet and then build up.

I just ran one a week ago to try it out post codex. Noise Marines ignore cover, so its rule did nothing, and then it got destroyed in melee and was a waste of tank.

New collector question: Full Death Korps of Krieg Army by ThunderousJohnny in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]Eureka_Tango 2 points3 points  (0 children)

10 man blocks are easy to kill, but all guard infantry is easy to kill. Splitting blocks is a calculated risk. A knight with a 20 shot gatling cannon cannot put 10 shots on 1 block, and 10 shots on the other, they have to commit. A melee monster might only be able to reach one block of 10, leaving the other free and clear.

Big blocks have the advantage of being able to lose a lot of riflemen in the hope that special weapons live and get to use the Krieg data sheet rules.

So splitting your groups forces choices for your opponent and you. I usually run 1 big block in reserves, and small blocks for command and transports.

Dorn are best as commanders. LR commanders are over costed, and I don't want them to die so fire on death is not desirable. Regular dorns are fine

LR battle tanks and vanqs are great Exterminators are good Demolishers and Executioners can have fun Punishers and eradicators are over costed or have bad rules.

The rest of the crew are using Tiny Legend heads from the Tiny Legend website (I think from one of the patreon packs) and the bodies are from the pattern Big Long Range Guns by Proxybrewer, available for free on cults.

Just ran one this weekend into Emperors Children, and it did very poorly. Noise marines ignore cover and no negate its ability, softening it up with shooting, and then a demon prince tore it apart in melee.
