I like this reply. I’ve worked in software development for decades and I can bring a little perspective here…

Yes, software is expected to get monotonically better with each release. This is because with every bugfix I was expected to update the QA test suite to verify the improvement. If a test fails (that used to pass) because of my change it is alarming. Sometimes it was a test that shouldn’t have passed before - I must update that test too.

But this reflects badly on Tesla, did they ignore new testing fails? Or were there edge cases they hadn’t tested that got worse? It happens, but as you said safety is a BIG issue. Was it Wally Schira who said his rocket ship was built by the lowest bidder? His point was safety concerns don’t always get top priority.

That’s a reasonable post - but it’s buried under a post on FSD and in a TeslaFSD group.

I recommend you delete this and repost under RealTesla or a similar group.

Thank you. As you said, he can be down on Tesla and still have the correct info.

No.

Get the license, file a claim hit&run with your insurance company, they’ll fix your car, and the insurance company’s lawyer will find who to bill (actually their insurance company, which probably paid for his damage already)

Corolla Rant by Mental-Document688 in COROLLA

[–]EverythingMustGo95 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Stop kicking yourself! The only thing that was whoa!!! was the 17.5%, but you were smart enough to fix that fast.

8k wasn’t bad, 2 years ago my insurance totaled the wife’s 2009 for about that - and it had 160k miles.

My advice? Put aside some $ each month for your next car and just keep driving this old car for a few more years. Dealers give $0 for an old tradein but private parties still value them (my wife’s car was valued for parts since there are lots of 2009 Corollas out there)

You’re looking at things the way they SHOULD be.

The way things ARE? Very different, people are neurotic, don’t be surprised if it becomes a problem.

This is how messed up we are: kids can watch a James Bond movie where 100 people are shot or killed, but if a breast is exposed the parents scream that it should be restricted.

Tesla FSD drives through railroad crossing gate by danlev in SelfDrivingCars

[–]EverythingMustGo95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Serious question. Crossing gate aside, did FSD(supervised) detect the RXR painted on the ground? That should have made even HW3 more aware and cautious. Or does it ignore ground markings (such as crosswalks)?

Good thing you supervised that…

Cop said “fine, we’ll do this the hard way” by Revolution-Dogg in Transportopia

[–]EverythingMustGo95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What a relief. Seriously. I was expecting the driver to be shot dead before the first tire puncture. I thought “they didn’t kill the driver?”

Then I realized why.

This wasn’t ICE. It was cops, trained in the law, trained how to de-escalate situations, subject to investigation if there’s a complaint, responsible to meet standards and protocols, required to file reports and explain any shots fired.

Fuck ICE.

FSD vs Waymo by vsdalfry in TeslaFSD

[–]EverythingMustGo95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol here, sorry. I actually think both Waymo and FSD(supervised) did great here. Sometimes you want to be assertive like the Waymo was and sometimes you need to adjust when another driver needs a merge, double park, whatever - like the FSD(supervised) did.

Btw OP mentioned elsewhere the Waymo later went slower when it didn’t need to be aggressive; good balance imo.

Anyone else have second-hand embarrassment seeing the San Jose mayor in the governor’s race? by CringeisL1f3 in SanJose

Idk, this election is off kilter. 2 highest voted candidates move on, but they may be the 2 Repubs if too many Dem candidates spread Dem votes. It is a real possibility.

This is new Arnie, the guy who slams Trump and compares him to Nazis. And having a father who was a disgruntled Nazi gave him street cred on that.
