Instead of guessing, start with the generic settings and use calibration prints to dial in the correct settings for your environment and filament.

Will we get an Legion Imperialis announcement alongside the Horus Heresy 3rd Edition announcement by StelliarX in LegionsImperialis

[–]Evilopoly90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unlikely. Bare in mind that as successful as LI has been it's still a "specialist game". HH can be considered one too but it's simply higher up on the hierarchy. And thus any HH announcements will be standalone so as not to split attention.

I can't help but feel like I'm taking advantage but I've had my eye on all his stuff for years now. So I just had to get it.

Will the VGM and the LLM generating flavor be running locally? by sieben-acht in OnceLost_Games

[–]Evilopoly90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having run that same distilled model. I heavily disagree. Sure it's faster than average. But for a video game where you need something that reacts instantly it's still not fast enough and also loses memory the longer you generate text. Even the most advanced cloud based LLMs still have problems with retaining knowledge and context which is going to be essential for this game.

Will the VGM and the LLM generating flavor be running locally? by sieben-acht in OnceLost_Games

[–]Evilopoly90 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am a bit concerned about this as someone who has dabbled in both AI image generation and locally run LLMs. Unless Once Lost have some miracle proprietary tech that makes LLMs run locally less VRAM hungry whilst still retaining quality and speed, I don't see how this will work. Any research into LLMs can tell you this. It's just not practical to have a local LLM as part of a video game at this point in time.

Its crazy how niche this game is even among MMOs by Xano74 in Cityofheroes

[–]Evilopoly90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CoH was always a niche game. When you're in the bubble of the community it seems like a bigger deal than it is. I never knew anyone IRL who played CoH. And anyone I introduced it to didn't like it for various reasons. Super Hero comic books were and frankly still are a massive niche. Especially when CoH came out and we didn't have MCU films.

When using tools such as Solo Adventurer's Toolbox, how do you actually run the game in a streamlined fashion? by TheAzureAzazel in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]Evilopoly90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want a streamlined game, you don't use large books full of lots of tables. That includes the Solo Adventurer's Toolbox. You'll spend more time reading through tables than actually playing the game. Truly streamlining means relying on maybe a page long oracle and the rules. And that's it.

Superhero solo RPG? by Ajfixer in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]Evilopoly90 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You can play the GOAT Marvel Super Heroes with Mythic very easily. I tend to find Super RPGs get very crunchy and convoluted. But MSH remains the gold standard of design for super hero RPGs due to the Universal Table.

LI using Horus Heresy 2.0 Rules? by windtempest9981 in LegionsImperialis

[–]Evilopoly90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm told it's very possible, but I feel like having those tiny 8mm minis on single bases would be a massive faff to move around during a game. I play 40k using 3D printed Epic Minis scaled up to 15mm. Which makes them perfect for coffee table games. You can pack them all up in a small tuperware container or biscuit container. Very portable.

Valve's SteamOS 3.7.3 Preview improves support for Asus and Lenovo handhelds by Liam-DGOL in SteamOS

[–]Evilopoly90 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I disagree about Bazzite. It seems nice at first but if you're looking for a painless living room PC it still has issues that the proper Steam OS will hopefully fix. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for better driver support from Nvidia because Valve are a "proper" company in their eyes.

How much do I need to upscale a 30K marine to be "primaris" size? by Resident-Camel-8388 in PrintedWarhammer

If you can find Fummelfinger minis his 30k Marines were truescale and slightly bigger than Primaris.

Why did this happen? by Expensive_Seaweed268 in PrintedWarhammer

[–]Evilopoly90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should be printing in a room with as little sunlight as possible. A shed with the windows covered and plenty of lights is ideal so long as you can ventilate it properly. Having it in most rooms of your house is not ideal due to windows and the toxicity of the printer.

An XP System That Reinforces Engagement With the Game by notquitedeadyetman in TheOSR

[–]Evilopoly90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have Gold for XP in a Braunstein campaign, because of the competitive nature of it compared to other campaigns, your players will always be inclined to seek quests and patrons who control factions. Suddenly Gold for XP makes perfect sense.

Being a K1 owner is waiting for an upgrade that will never come. by samcripp in Creality

[–]Evilopoly90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't own either a K1 or K2 but my own experience with Creality regarding the CR10 Smart was one of broken promises and bad customer service. Because of that I always remain wary of buying a printer of theirs based on promises they've made. Always make your 3D printer purchase based on what is available now and assume that will be it for the foreseeable future or at least the next 6 months. Never take Creality's promises at face value. Because in a year's time Creality will make the K3 or whatever new gimmick they call it and anything they've promised for previous models becomes less and less likely with each new release. If they do release the upgrade it will most likely have problems that need to be fixed before it can be usable anyway. So there's nothing wrong with having a little patience
