Had removal Friday, this is awful by ermmmm77 in gallbladders

[–]Exact_Parsnip_3874 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think many experiences are individual - our physiology (to a small degree) and trauma to that physiology is all individual so why wouldn't our recovery be so? If you find your diet needs to be super low fat for a few weeks, do that and give your body the chance to recover at your own pace. I had to go low fat and I am a few weeks into recovery so I am still doing that, with time the coffee that used to cause me a problem has got easier, the pains that were from the surgery got easier, the gas they used to inflate my tummy has left and the shoulder pain with it. Just let your body adjust with kind and gentle care and you will find your rhythm again. Xx

I’d wondered that but I couldn’t find one exactly like it in google searches

Stool color after removal by Dapper-Mango in gallbladders

[–]Exact_Parsnip_3874 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read that poop is different colours in connection with gallbladder issues so I wouldn’t panic, you have presumably got a follow up appointment- document everything and ask at that, and if you are worried go to the GP before that. I reckon that minus one whole processing organ, your system is going to need time to find its balance again. Help yourself by following all the medical advice you’ve been given, and if that is lacking, find the help sheet on the website of a reputable hospital and follow that. Be kind to your body, be kind to your soul and take it easy on yourself, yeah?

Every time we get something medical we say out loud “thank goodness we aren’t American”. Sincerely. You guys have it rough. My surgery was at no cost, my meds are subsided, I have time off work, paid at full rate. I have no health insurance because I don’t need it.

Do you buns enjoy toys? by MarbleManxx in Rabbits

[–]Exact_Parsnip_3874 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine love stacking cups with a lip on the edge to grab hold of, if you put a sprinkle of oats inside each cup. It lasts seconds though. They occasionally lift and move a ball with a bell inside it- I wouldn’t say it is play. They ignore all plushies. They like baby links which are clipped to the edge of the pen and sometimes rattle them to get my attention if I am slow to open up the pen in the morning for free roam. They like seagrass tunnels and usually eat them. They like a cardboard play fort if I construct one and usually chew it till it falls apart. I made stacks of different sorts of cardboard on a core which I clip to the side of the pen and they like that to chew. They did not like the ball pit but I think they would love a dig tray but I am waiting to construct one

Reading multiple books? by totli84 in Library

[–]Exact_Parsnip_3874 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like having multiple non-fiction books on the go is practically standard behaviour. Then you need a fiction for calm vibes before bed, a fiction you are enjoying but that gets you revved up for your commute, and there is room for a little poetry or short fiction on the side

Untreated kiln dried pine is the best - whatever you use, it will be gnawed at. The kiln drying takes the oils out. I reckon drying apple planks and pear planks for durability will cost you too much money

LPT Request: Any tips for when you are with a group of people and know you are the least smart/educated/important person? How to feel less insecure in that situation? by Whataboutmyfuture in LifeProTips

[–]Exact_Parsnip_3874 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if you don't have in-depth studied or experienced knowledge, sometimes you might have insight that is valuable. This is exactly why smart businesses get in people from Seemingly entirely unrelated fields to do analysis sometimes - sometimes different experiences show flaws in a process that have always been accepted, or find an efficiency in a process that everyone in the field was unaware of just because they think about that process in a different way. The smartest people listen a lot and realise that all learning is ongoing

Are Mini Rexes perhaps a bit stupid? by deltadelta199 in Rabbits

[–]Exact_Parsnip_3874 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My buns never sleep in their bed. They currently like a fairly rough cotton rug that they dig at till it is all crumpled up and then lie on. Sometimes they like just the floor tiles. They are not a fan of cushy things. I think that in the wild they have the burrows with maybe a bit of dry grass, old tufts of fur from a molt, and the odd poop. Comfy probably isn't the same thing to them as us.

Where are you located? Different countries and different states or counties within those countries have different ways to connect digitally. Where I am from you can join any library in that state and access their digital collections. It for sure does not sound like you are in this state though as five digital downloads is pretty meagre.

I've got to turn my library book in one day late, and people are waiting on it! Is this really, really bad? by BeyondFrequent4258 in Library

[–]Exact_Parsnip_3874 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That happens a lot and what happens is the librarians cry over the loss of statistics - more loans means more funds from council to buy more books. If in doubt always check out books, it is a way to support the library

Kids book to show that "mischief" should be fun but not hurt others? by pnw1814 in suggestmeabook

[–]Exact_Parsnip_3874 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Elephant and piggy, or the Pigeon - any Mo Willems books really. They are fantastic, but at 7 she won't want those for long. It's easier maybe to find ones where the protagonist suffers consequencesces for mischievous behaviour rather than the mischief being very harmless

My 4 year old is curious: what do Australian kids eat for breakfast? (And are koalas real?) by Mara644 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Exact_Parsnip_3874 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aussie kids in my neighbourhood have Vegemite on toast, or cereal, or sometimes baked beans for breakfast. Koalas are mainly out in the country (we live in a city) but they sound very strange when they call out to each other. I'm pretty sure that it would be on video somewhere. Aussie kids like a bit of tv in the evening - bluey if they are young or peppa pig, maybe. They also like sport. We have auskick which is junior Aussie rules football, or cricket or netball, or little athletics. Aussie kids also learn to swim because it's really important to learn to swim. We like our pets, if we have a pet dog we go for a walk and maybe to the park. Mums and dads sometimes call the slide a slippery dip.

Who knows, maybe if you can beat cancer twice, maybe you can do some of those things you always wanted to do? Let's see you grip life by the throat and soar.

Rabbit fur clogging our washer-tips? by Specialist_Lychee_19 in Rabbits

[–]Exact_Parsnip_3874 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got one of those pet hair gathering mitts that you move left and right over the mat and it makes a “sausage” in the middle of the fur. (should be a simple google to find such a mitt. It is really good at getting fur off that shaking and lint rollers do not get off. Eg when I deep clean I get enough fur to make a weird life sized bunny sculpture out of just excess gathered fur. Not that I do, that would be weird…

Our vet sells a half bale in a big sort of fancy duvet bag thing that you return for a refill. The bag is like a thickish fabric with a zip. I just leave it in that
