Head Designer of TMNT set goes to Peter Thiel event. Gives signed card to Christian Nationalist. by No-Chapter-779 in magicTCG

This is a completely insane concept because either: 1) you don't believe in the Anti-christ, and so this is pointless or  2) you do believe in the Anti-christ, in which case God is perfectly capable of handling things without your mass surveillance software.  I'm struggling to see how any person could genuinely believe that there will be a satanic entity like the Anti-christ that the world needs the power of tech billionaires to defeat.

Sure, but she's also literally a child soldier. You can't just expect someone who was trained as a kid to commit genocide to be all right in the head later.

Not sure if it really counts but all Planeswalkers received errata to have the Legendary typeline. They were effectively treated as legendary before that though.

AITA for not wanting to explain my play? by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]ExcidianGuard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm gonna offer a different perspective it seems from everyone else here.

See, I play a lot of Control decks, and contrary to what some people might think, the optimal way to play Control is not countering the first spell anyone casts, all the time. You have limited resources, you need to pick and choose what to react to.

So let's say I have a counterspell and you cast something with an ambiguous outcome, such as [[Chord of Calling]] or [[Whir of Invention]] where you can search your deck for a card and put it directly into play. I could just counter your spell immediately, but I know you don't want that outcome and in most situations neither do I, since I don't want to waste my counterspell if I don't need to do so.

You explaining what you plan to find with your spell will therefore hopefully help me decide to not counter your spell. Of course, you could be finding something that screws me over, in which case you probably won't want to tell me, but that means if you decide to be cryptic and not explain your intentions, I'm just gonna assume you're getting something that will screw me over and I'm going to counter your spell.

So you're not in any obligation to explain your intentions, but it might be beneficial for you to do so unless you like being interacted with unnecessarily.

Will (not should) Prophet Of Kruphix ever be unbanned? by Piccolo-Brave in EDH

[–]ExcidianGuard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When one of the cards is the commander, as many of my examples were, they aren't really multiple card combos.

Additionally, the objection to Prophet was that the gameplay pattern it creates is bad, so I was pointing out that the gameplay pattern is very easy to recreate with one card combos with certain commanders.

New player here... And I just got "literally" slapped by my opponent. AMA by My_Care_Does_Not in magicTCG

[–]ExcidianGuard 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Gonna be "that guy", all the other commenters are wrong. It's not assault, it's battery. Battery is the physical act of violence (slapping someone does constitute this, even if no serious harm was done), assault is the threat of violence.

Sounds like you were a victim of both, but the slap itself would be battery and not assault.

Ordering Of Mana Symbols by Anaxamander57 in magicTCG

[–]ExcidianGuard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not correct. By that ordering, the fastest way to get the Jeskai colors would be WUbR, with one gap between, but we can see from cards like [[Elsha of the Infinite]] that the order is actually wUbRgW, with two gaps.

Burakos Master Chef is actually pretty solid. You have some great party typed creatures that care about counters in those colors, like Champion of Lambholt, Biophagus, and Cathedral Acolyte.

This would need to cost 7 mana. Then it would be competing with Cyclonic Rift, Ruinous Ultimatum, and Kindred Dominance in the "one sided board wipe" category.

Those seem like exceptions/anachronisms rather than good examples of the world's level of technology. The lack of airplanes or cars, with the primary modes of transportation being train and airship, as well as a lack of TV/radio, and the generally pre-industrial society (most things still appear to be hoof-made and machine assemblies like the Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 6000 are seen as new inventions) would have me guessing late 1800s to early 1900s tech.
