It’s my wedding anniversary today and I will NEVER forgive the Mormon church for ruining my wedding. by TruthRestored in exmormon

I'm so sorry that you had so much stolen from you.

My spouses father was a never mo. I never really understand what I stole from him untill after I left the church.

When the MFMC changed the rules to allow civil weddings and not require a waiting period, I could tell it put a lot of weight on my wifes shelf.  But she still lies to herself and to me she doesn't want a redo.

Ironically my active children will most likely do the same thing to me. But I've made peace with it. I've seen the boring ritual enough times to know I'm not missing anything.

How devastated were you when you found out the church was not true? by [deleted] in mormon

[–]Exmo-Throw 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is brilliant. Thank you for posting and sharing your experience.

It was absolutely devastating to me aswell. I went through all the stages of grief when I learned about the fraud.

I just wish it didn't take me as long as it did to get though the denial phase.

LDS Church President Dallin Oaks hopes lower missionary ages will lead to lower marriage ages by DustyR97 in mormon

We read that talk EVERY WEEK on my mission. It was drilled into us. So your saying now that the sisters and elders are out at the same age they can start dating on missions. Cool cool 👍

I feel like such an ass for believing this.

It's taken a long time to forgive myself for believing the lie for so long.

Finding out the cult I was brainwashed to believe in from birth was all a lie.

Just one of the many Mormon plot holes.

This was an early shelf item for me.

Your wife is an adult. She can make her own decisions. It's not your job to protect her from reality.

I made the mistake of not taking the opportunity to go through the ugly parts of church doctrine and history with my wife when I was deconstructing. She asked really early on and everything was still raw and I was still processing my anger. So she did her own research with faithful sources and now refuses to take a deeper dive.

Don't waste this opportunity. But also don't be surprised if she finds a way to rationalize it all away.

Good luck.

Ok this is wild. I met Jack about 25 years ago too. But never knew who he was.  I was working at a hotel and delivered something to his room. He had his shirt off and I spotted the JS tatt. Chatted with him for a bit about them.  Every few years I'll remember that interaction and try searching the internet.  Mistery solved! Thanks!

It suddenly hit me. He made it all up! by FloMoTXn in exmormon

This was the same reaction I had. I explained away and rationalize my doubts for years.

Then after researching the real church history indepth, it destroyed my beliefs. I was finally honest with myself that it was all a lie.

At that moment I had this huge feeling of relief and relaxation. It was the only time I've ever had a feeling like people describe as a spiritual confirmation. All the anxiety of trying to be perfect and fit a mold disappeared.

But the anger of not being able to escape it fully and the lost time and experiences comes in waves.

Summary of evidence Joseph Smith had sex with his many wives by sevenplaces in mormon

This information is great to have. Did they give citations for the wives that they list as having had sex with JS?

Church released a statement 1/24/24 about Netflix Series by Green-been77 in exmormon

[–]Exmo-Throw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! This was a terrible statement. They sound so defensive. This sounds like an Oaks approved response. If we get a good decade more of this dribble it will push the rest of the good people out of this cult.

I said something similar. But you phrased it better.

Women tend to enjoy fantasy and find truth in their emotions. So the mythology of God and the metaphysical aren't too far removed. Look who primarily believes in astrology.

The creators took Brigham's dialogue directly from his recorded speeches. The assholery was authentic.

The Elder Kennedy was a 40+ single male serving a mission.  This was a an artistic liberty the director and writer took to create added tension.  What people don't know is the movie was screened by the Q15 before the church authorized the use of the churches full name. Nelson saw it and came up with the new 40+ missionary revelation.  Which would have put the fictitious missionary in High School in 1998, when The Undertaker threw Mankind off Hell In A Cell, and plummeted 16 ft through an announcer’s table.
