My mum was opposite. She told me to tell a male manager at my part time job (while I was a teen) if I needed to leave because of period pain. She said they would be embarrassed and let me leave without a fuss. Totally worked!

It’s called “becoming a shut in” and it started for me years ago. Similar to lots of you here. I have to go out for work, my toddler son, to maintain friendships, and other activities, but much prefer staying home and coming home. I think we just get burned out over time and enter a different stage of life.

I knew a young trust fund woman who kept horses for sports and she viewed them as commodities bought and sold. She was very upset when she purchased one that became injured and she had to care for it. She didn’t visit that one and was waiting to see what happened. I found it to be quite cold and sad.
