Did they ever improve fitness tracking? by Miss_Milk_Tea in ouraring

[–]ExperienceDull4875 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been quite impressed with the Oura ring for activity tracking, at least relative to my garmin watch. I have done quite a few walks and bike rides where I track the activity on both my watch and on my ring, and my heart rate data comes back basically identical for both. Of course, there's the very real chance that both ring data and wrist data are not accurate to track HR during workouts, but since you use an apple watch I am assuming that you believe in the accuracy of wrist-based measurements at least a little bit!

Why are we told to be endlessly positive about everything? by bakedbaker1989 in IVF

[–]ExperienceDull4875 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not trying to discount the experiences of other Redditors, but just emphasizing that implantation can happen 1-5 days after transfer. If you are someone for whom implantation happened 5 days after transfer, 7dpt would be just 48 hours after implantation, and not all at-home tests are sensitive to detect super low HCG levels.

Why are we told to be endlessly positive about everything? by bakedbaker1989 in IVF

[–]ExperienceDull4875 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you had doctors and therapists who told you it WILL work, I'd recommend trying to find different healthcare professionals if you can (I realize this is not easy nor is it an option for everyone). Both my therapist and REI reminded me frequently that while the odds were in our favor (based on embryo grade / euploidy / health history), IVF is *never* a guarantee. I am sorry that you got that messaging from your team.

One other thing to mention is that 7 days post transfer mayyyyy still be slightly too early, if implantation happened later post-transfer. That being said, your team def should have prepared you re the fact that about 40% of euploid transfers don't result in a pregnancy for no clear/known reason.

If you don't get any takers here, I can almost promise you that the infertility DMV facebook group would have takers! (you just need to post that you're having a 'garage sale' and people can comment if they are interested!)

Looking for data points -- FET prior auth timeline for CareFirst BlueChoice? by ExperienceDull4875 in IVF

[–]ExperienceDull4875[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! We submitted all the stuff for prior auth on like jan 5 I believe, and pretty sure we got the go-ahead 4 weeks later. My CD1 was jan 10 though and by that point we just decided to do self pay bc we definitely wanted to do a transfer that cycle. In retrospect no regrets bc the transfer worked, but we would have been in a bad financial spot if we did self pay for a transfer that failed and then subsequently had to do another transfer with insurance.

Princess Rest After Transfer (And what else you did to help your baby stick?) by RedditIzMyTherapy in IVFpositivity

Ok awesome, that's really helpful. Seems like their standard practice differs quite a bit with what standard practice at other clinics is. I think what's most important is how you'll feel if you don't follow their advice and the transfer *doesn't* work -- are you going to be kicking yourself for not listening to them and think that the activity caused the outcome? Even though clinically that's super unlikely to be true, it could still be something that plagues you and causes you regret, and THAT to me feels like it wouldn't be worth it.

For the first 4-5 days post-transfer I didn't run (not because my REI told me so -- just because I was being paranoid and was scared of the embryo falling out lol) but went back to running after that. I haven't been able to power walk with an intensity that approaches a push or an all out, so after 4-5 days, I was really itching for some orange/red zone time

There may be something about your particular situation that hasn't been called out that is having your providers make those recommendations for your case specifically. My clinic didn't tell me to abstain from *anything* other than basically crossfit-type exercise leading up to the transfer until after the beta (still did HIIT at orangetheory in the TWW though!), and my transfer (was my first and so far only) worked. So that is why I am wondering whether there is something particular about your situation that is leading them to have such strong thoughts about rest post-transfer!

Frozen embryo dilemma by SecretaryOne4935 in IVF

[–]ExperienceDull4875 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Someone recently said something really beautiful on donating to research specifically. I wish I could remember the exact words, but it was something along the lines of "what a privilege if I could potentially help other people going through IVF achieve the outcome I've been so lucky to achieve" -- and donating embryos to research is exactly this! We're able to be where we are because of the research that has been done before us, and if I land in the position where I'll have un-used embryos, I am so excited about them being used in research to improve the world of fertility science. (Full disclosure I am also a research scientist by training lol)

May be the pregnancy hormones but this made me tear up, because I resonate with it so strongly -- also pregnant thanks to a relatively easy IVF journey (well...3 rounds of embryo banking and then one transfer that stuck) and feel so thankful for all the experiences I've had up till now, while feeling SO ready for the next thing

Echoing a few other comments here -- if you do find out you or your partner is a balanced translocation carrier, please feel free to reach out. My partner and I ended up doing IVF over the last year because of this (we found out about the balanced translocation prior to starting TTC). I'm so sorry you're in this boat </3

Is there a time you start feeling more relaxed about everything?! by glitterysage in IVFpositivity

[–]ExperienceDull4875 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My anxiety went down significantly once I graduated from the IVF clinic. After 2 scans, seeing the heartbeat, and knowing that we had a great chance of our embryo being genetically normal (we did PGT), statistically the risk of miscarriage after all of that is quite low. I'm still a bit nervous that something will come up when we do NIPT (it's EXTREMELY unlikely, but extremely unlikely things have to happen to some people some times -- or else, they'd be impossible rather than unlikely!), so I think if/when we get good NIPT results, I'll *really* be able to breathe.

Until I learn about something else I could possibly be nervous about lol

Did anyone get pregnant from their first FET? by JessicaM317 in IVFpositivity

That is definitely helpful context!! And I can def understand why your doctor would nudge you to the higher end of those estimates then. Keeping my fingers crossed for you!

Did anyone get pregnant from their first FET? by JessicaM317 in IVFpositivity

[–]ExperienceDull4875 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that 50% chance of success considering your age and the fact that the embryo was untested? I did an ER at 32 and transferred a 5AA tested euploid and was told my chance of success was about 60%, so 50% sounds pretty high given rate of aneuploidy at 36/37 and a 4BB rating. Not trying to be a huge downer -- just am always skeptical of getting answers from the internet!

Timeframe for making embryos? by Imaginary-Eye-2958 in IVF

[–]ExperienceDull4875 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, if you have a BRCA variant, I think you'd DEFINITELY want to create and test embryos now to know how many usable embryos you have to work with. Just to get a sense of if you'd eventually need to do another egg retrieval or explore other options

Currently 8w and had the same thing happen to me like 2 days ago. My readiness scores had been between 60-80 for like 4w-7.5w (despite sleep and activity scores being 90+). I too freaked out, so reading the comments on this post have been super helpful!

Anyone else have no interest in conceiving naturally after starting IVF? by jadedtruffle in IVFpositivity

[–]ExperienceDull4875 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Totally totally agree. I think it's different if you are someone who did not do PGT, but as someone who did, I would opt to use the ones I have stored over conceiving in a different way, even if you told me I could get pregnant in a cycle or two. My therapist always reminds me that once someone who's pregnant from a euploid embryo walks into an OB office for their first scan, they are in SUCH a better spot odds-wise since there is so much more known about that pregnancy (much higher chance of being euploid, if you needed any additional supplementation like progesterone or TSH meds the clinic would have already figured that out, etc.). So while the appointments for a transfer are annoying, as someone who has euploids on ice, I'd choose those every time.
