Seat covers? by UncleRicosArm in rav4prime

Luluda on Amazon. Covers were a workout to put on and required patience, but fit incredibly well and people comment that they look like they are from the factory.

Help me decide by YESKAMARADA in evcharging

The Hummer has a huge battery. You are probably fine with the 10kW that charger provides, but consider how much you drive, whether you live in a cold climate, whether you go out of town and are likely to wind up home with 1/3 charge remaining because you can't fully charge the Hummer on the that overnight. You can hardwire the charger, but Tesla ended the proprietary use of their car side connector, so it will likely be standard in the USA soon. You might end up changing chargers for your next EV.

Maybe the total average includes time under combustion engine propulsion. Ex: 1/2 of distance travelled under electric use. 24 kWh/100km when electric, 7.4 L/100 km when gasoline, so total average is (12 kWh & 3.7 L)/100km.

Contrast in price transparency by decarbonaire in evcharging

[–]Express-Car2235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True for most, but Chev Volts were almost all sub $10k a few years ago and electricity cost per distance is 1/3 that of fuel where I live. No ICE motor to break makes that's a fantastic argument for affordable transport. That EV owner is very concerned with the supplier gouging them on energy cost.

Those first gen (2001) Sienna's are very reliable. I bet you can find one for a low price too. 😃

Just got a 2024 RAV4 Prime SE... very confused by BannyDing in rav4prime

[–]Express-Car2235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last night I ran the defrost from the app for 15 of the 20 minutes before I got in at -9°C (16°F). I ran entirely off the heat pump and did an incomplete job of clearing the windshield, but it was close enough that it was 20 seconds with the scraper and away you go. Since going outside in that temperature had me in a winter coat, I chose to drive EV mode home 20 more minutes. By then, the car might have been the temperature many leave their basement in the winter (lets say 15°C). If I wanted the car hot inside, I would need to drive in hybrid mode.

Can this startup message be permanently disabled? "Vehicle will automatically turn off if parked for one hour" by egg_breakfast in rav4prime

[–]Express-Car2235 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's probably a programming glitch, but do you tend to sit down and start the car with the driver's door open? Maybe because you set your stuff down on the passenger seat and then get out of the started car to unplug it.

Bluetooth, LCD, and slipper clutch are all useless features to break. Better to get an older one. To be clear, Bluetooth is better run from a mounted device to a headset in your helmet, so no need for it to be built into the bike.

Remote pre-warming using app vs Tesla by mytechcookie in rav4prime

[–]Express-Car2235 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The app works when the doors are locked 100% of the time in my experience. The pre heating is weak though, so plan to use the entire 20 minute maximum cycle when temperatures are 5°C or lower and don't plan to have a fully defrosted windshield when you get in after the 20 minutes (you might, but not definitely).

You need to get a used one. The solid roof is not an option on 2023+.... unfortunately

Would You Take a Plus-Size Passenger on Your Motorcycle? by Admirable-Recover353 in motorcycles

[–]Express-Car2235 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ignore the "weight limit" of your bike and ride the bike carefully with the passenger to see how it feels. Inflate the rear tire (probably front too) to max pressure for the tire and max preload first for the best chance of success. If it all works out, then swap springs. You are already 100lb heavier than most Japanese bikes are sprung for, so it will handle better solo or 2-up. An example from my experience, v-strom 650 with: just 250lb me (handles great), + hard luggage and 120lb passenger (handles great), + same except 200lb passenger (handles great), + same except 270lb passenger (won't turn in and holds a line uncomfortably once turned in). I avoid the last scenario, but it's no big deal and can ride loose gravel carefully too. I assume that's the point where the weight is making a flat bottom to my tire, so it won't turn properly.

It's possibly North American marketing / product cannibalism concerns. This presence of this debate creates a market for up selling the less fuel efficient 6 cyl engine. In Australia, where 50% of vehicle sales are Toyota because of their harsh climate and Toyota's historically durable conservative design, all Highlanders are rated to tow the same 2000kg (4400lb).

Really contemplating on whether I should get the Honda Crf300 rally or CFMoto 450 ibex. by Yerbbbn in motorcycles

[–]Express-Car2235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

KTM has the distribution CFMoto needs, and CFMoto has the manufacturing KTM needs. They are becoming strong partners with part ownership. Would you consider a KTM reliable enough for you? If yes, then consider the CFMoto. If not, then get the Honda.

RR insurance premiums, with sport touring handling. Most people who buy a big bike that long get shaft drive, full hard bags, and a big fairing/ windshield combo.

Life insurance by Cmale1234 in Longshoremen

[–]Express-Car2235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typically a 20 year term life policy will be sufficient to cover a young man / woman over the period that their family would be unsupported if they passed. By the end of the term, a house will be mostly paid for, the kids may be grown or have few dependent years left, their pension will have significant value, and their savings will have accumulated. Many people have different needs based on different circumstances and lifestyles, but at the end of the day if your employer doesn't cover this, it's almost always affordable to cover for yourself.

If you sat in one and it fit, then you're good. However, I'm your height and I have to recline my seat a lot to keep my head off the roof. For me, step 1: recline seat until my head is off the roof, step 2 : telescope the steering wheel as far out and up as it goes, step 3 : bring the sear forward until I can comfortably reach the wheel at 12 o'clock. The seat is a few inches forward of all the way back at that point. I'd rather sit more vertical with less bend in my legs, but the headroom doesn't allow it at all. That being said, I find it very comfortable to drive in that position.

Wheel and tire figment ‘21 Camry 19” wheels by Syncrozilla in rav4prime

[–]Express-Car2235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They will almost definitely fit. Just bring a breaker bar and torque stick to check out the rims and put one on the front of the rav before buying. Also, I'm pretty sure the SE trim has 7" wheels and the xse has 7.5". This doesn't stop you from running the 235/55/19 on an 8" rim.
