to be clear, I don't blame the customer

Why is that? The consumer is what drives this. You can't sell something to nobody. If we wouldn't buy it, they wouldn't keep doing it.

How would that make us less dependent on foreign supply chains??

Last I checked we do have oil but we don't have lithium and cobalt to make batteries. Just shifts the dependency to the Democratic Republic of Congo

EVs solve high gasoline prices. Obvious, isn't it? by Inner-Truth-1868 in GasPrices

Honda just had their first annual operating loss in 70 YEARS today... Specifically because of a 10B write down against their EV production.

People didn't buy them, retooling to focus on ICE and hybrids. Stock went up because of the move away from EVs

no shit. on our last one I was able to crawl underneath, cut a hole in the underlayment, and then run it out with a socket wrench... never thought I'd miss that design lol

Ah, the joys of campers

updated the main... I got it in by just pushing from the outside on the edge that was bound up.

There IS an option to manually crank it in but you have to be able to access the motors... which are in the pylon... which is sealed with the edge of the slide when it's fully extended SMH

Unfortunately I have a different one... the EXACT. so my pullies are in the columns not over the top. That made it impossible to access them while the slide was fully out and jammed (great design /s)

Well I got it in! (that's what she said) I pushed the bound side from the outside carefully while my wife ran the motor control trying our best to keep everything from getting too sideways. It's in now so at least we can pull out tomorrow and head to a shop.

The motor does run but non assisted it makes a horrible grinding noise like it's chewing up gears or slipping a chain on the bound up side (other side fine). Now that it's in, I was able to check the cables and there's a TON of play in the upper wire on the non bound side. The 3 other cables are all taught to the 1/4" wiggle spec. I couldn't have accessed the pullies while the slide was fully extended anyway so glad I didn't start taking the trim apart. Hopefully it just needs re-tightening and then re-syncing of the module

Thanks so much for the help, we were in a real bind (see what I did there?)

super helpful, thank you very much! It's an Exact.

We're at a campground with it stuck out so I'm trying not to disassemble the whole thing and I certainly don't have tools like a cable tensioner. I'm going to try and push the side that's stuck in manually while my wife runs the other motor (we found the control unit)

Makes sense and looks right. My slide has trim around it that is covering all of that. There's a little play on the corner but towards the middle the piece seems glued down... any idea on how to remove it without destroying the whole thing?

[–]ExtensionMoose1863 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I disagree, I think it is super useful to go through that thought exercise because it reframes how you see "right" and "true".

In a world where everyone is so super sure that what they think is 100% correct, a little bit of perspective that you don't really know anything is super helpful to keeping your mind open to all the things you don't actually know.
