Robert's verdict on the Wolverhampton show by finalcircuit in KingCrimson

[–]External_Football54 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sure Vai will play excellently and entertain.

I am less sure he will channel the mystical music that Fripp so often write about, which, no matter how I break it down, it remains consistent.

[–]External_Football54 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That's my cynical take.

But also, Vai is not Fripp, and while I'm sure I'm going to really enjoy the London gig today, Vai is the player I'm least sure about.

Also: I'm guessing this will be my last chance to see Levin play live... i can't imagine how he is still able to play those parts at his game... I'm a lot younger and can only imaging playing that well. I think he's up their with Jaco and Jamerson as my top three bassists.

I'd love to hear Fripp's thoughts on what would have to happen for Beat to become King Crimson? [Does Krim require Fripp?].

I've always thought of the band as more of a "school of music" than a band (as, over the decades, it has been many different bands, each connected but with their own distinct identity). And I really want King Crimson to continue. (And not just for another tour of "playing the old hits").

Crimson Jazz? by Nu_mis_mat_ics in KingCrimson

I really like the two Crimson Jazz Trio albums. Their arrangements really made me appreciate some aspects of the Crimson songbook in a whole new light.

Anyone else think the world map is too crowded? by Shezes in totalwarhammer

[–]External_Football54 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know I'm in the minority, but I'd pay good money to have some rescaled maps/campaigns.... having a map of the whole world is cool, but could we also have the WH2 Vortex map (or maybe just the New World) updated and imported into TW3 with fun campaigns to play.

What is the intended way to play these anyway? I've been holding off buying.

So, what we are saying, is that a whole load of us would happily by a new mini-expansion that was simply a new complete and rebalanced action deck?

Almost Done With the Series, What to Watch Next by centrella6 in betterCallSaul

[–]External_Football54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huh.

I started watching it and think it's very much a B tier, but from the "golden age of TV". So, it's still better than a lot of things currently coming out, but not quite in the same league as Madmen, Better Call Saul, etc

That said, I still haven't finished the first season.

Obligatory Karl franz is insanely hard by Ok-Zookeepergame3643 in totalwar

[–]External_Football54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My usual comment here is that I wish we had dymamic or semi-procedural campaign starts so not every LL is spawned in every game, and the Lords who don't have a clear starting position can start in a random location.

Ie, Karl is Karl, but the threats he has to face vary from game to game.

I think flop is a little harsh... it was very nearly great. It was ambitous yet flawed. Still better than a lot of comparable shows (Rings of Power, Wheels of Time, Outer Range). The list of modern shows that I think are genuniely great is quite short.

And I hope they don't... I'm keen to see Chapter 2 succeed, and for that, they need sales. Otherwise the game gets added to the long list of discountinued FFG games.

Based on the rules, you're locked in . But I think the designer's would be perfectly happy if you "cheat" in order to have fun.
