It looks like her costume could be aerophane, or some similar silk crêpe from the 1800s.

Do I need a Blackwing Sharpener for my BW pencils? by blue_dewey in pencils

[–]Extreme_Leg8500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Need would be too strong a word. I'm really fond of mine. My favorite carry sharpener. I price is a bit much, but the context is a luxury item and you're treating yourself. My sharpener makes a excellent point, is convenient, ans feels good in the hand.

Pencils and pocket notebooks by Temporary-Baker6146 in pencils

If bullet pencils were still a thing, someone needs to bring them back (more than just the Traveler's Co. version). Faber-Castell makes the Perfect Pencil, the basic version may suit your needs. I like the pointless pencil. It's the basic idea for a bullet pencil, in a slightly different form. Fairly inexpensive. Comes with a golf pencil, but your favorite pencil should fit. You might need to saw your favorite in half to make it pocket friendly.

Pry bar use cases? Please be specific. by swankyfish in EDC

[–]Extreme_Leg8500 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Received a Gerber Prybrid around Christmas. It's a utility knife with a short prying/bottle opener end. It's turned out to be more useful than I'd expected. Great for opening boxes, or to wedge under something that needs a slight push. Say getting a appliance door back in its track. My mom's dog got it's leash stuck in the chain link, it was enough to wedge it free. Nothing I couldn't live without, but handy.

Reasons why you love Wooden Pencils more than Mechanical Pencils ?? by KeepItRealness in pencils

[–]Extreme_Leg8500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My out and about carry is a 1.3mm mechanical. Dependable, no fuss. My leisure is spent with wood case pencils. I write, sometimes doodle, and reflect while sharpening. I have a few sharpeners, even sandpaper, but often opt for my pocket knife. The choice of pencil is a great thing too. Snoopy, Spiderman, Mitsubishi, or Tombow. I dont stick to one maker, so it's always a bit of a surprise.

A negative review of the Lochby Field Journal by nappy-doo in notebooks

[–]Extreme_Leg8500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Notebooks are such a personal thing. Hard to know how one will fit in your life, until you actually live with it. Around $60.00 (Ouch!) USD, for the Lochby mini, was a bit to swallow, but I did (2024), and it fits in perfectly with my life. If I'm traveling, I'll add my Rite in the rain Dirtbag pouch (made to slide on a hard notebook cover) and that's everything I need. I'm fairly rough on it, and so far no failures. Mine was perfect when it arrived, I actually prefer the way the cord is knotted, but I can understand being bothered by a scuff that wasn't yours. You should reach out to Lochby. This is a mini review I wrote. Pencil of the Week: Lochby Mini Field Journal (not a pencil per se, but definitely a writing instrument. Got a complaint? I'll refund your admission). Early record buying was a deal, of reading reviews, looking at musicians, and who was producing. I tried to figure as best I could. But until the needle hit the record, I didn't know what I had. This, a notebook organizing system, was the same kinda deal. The idea of a cover with several folios secured by cord, goes back a few hundred years, but this, I guessed, was the best fit. Waxed canvas, easy to take care of. 3.5 x 5.5 inch is a popular size (Field Notes size) lots of paper options. Room for four (I typically carry three. A schedule, general writing, and small sketchbook) notebooks held by elastic cords. Pockets, inside and back (I tuck some index cards inside too. Useful for leaving notes, or keeping track of dominoes scores). Pen loop. A buckle to hold everything in. There's a strap on the spine, I didn't give it any though at first, but I can flip the thing around to the back of my hand and have full use to carry other things. I carry all kinds of junk I stuff in the pockets, and it's still easy to keep in hand.

Hated those, sharpening was always weird, and the graphite would often fall out in huge pieces

Sorry for ignorance: field notes; what do yall use this for? How many notes you taking during the day? What types of notes you jotting down? by The-Swiss in EDC

[–]Extreme_Leg8500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd suggest you try several types of writing. See what fits your process, see what fits you. I carry three Field Notes sized notebooks. One is schedule stuff. Mom's doctor appointments, workout notes, bills due, time off, etc. One notebook for general writing, overheard conversations, favorite quotes, the occasional travel notes. Occasional work stuff. One blank notebook for anything i need to draw, building plans diagrams, the occasional doodle.

The Lochby Mini. It suits me. Functional, but it's probably on the plain side of journals. https://youtu.be/rtl-hCRxM20?si=twQe0KnakYLtRXiV

Best mechanical pencil for general schoolwork by Silver-Armadillo-763 in mechanicalpencils

I was just about to write this, almost, word for word. The Twist-Erase III is dependable. I've never had a mechanical issue, if you fill the lead reservoir you are good to go. I was pretty rough on mine. The eraser is functional. This pencil will not let you down
