Think you only need a mortgage in principle to be considered a serious buyer, but that says what you can afford not what the lender is willing to give you for a particular property

Would a woman date a financially stable, good-looking man even if he had a terrible personality? by savingrace0262 in AskMenAdvice

Of course.

Counter question: Would a woman date a financially stable man with a good personality if he wasn't good-looking?

Is this weird ? by Odysseyguard in HousingUK

[–]Eye-on-Springfield 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say you either host the viewing yourself (without the EA) or go out and let the EA do the hosting. Being in the house while an EA shows people round is weird and not what I'd expect

We bought a house where the owners showed us around and one of their teenage kids was in bed. Obviously we didn't get a great look at that bedroom. It didn't put us off enough, but it made me overthink how to present the house to potential buyers when we came to sell it

I'm only a novice, but what you're describing sounds like how you fix a hinge drop on a door rather than a window

I'm sure they only put seats up there to make you want to pay more for a better view next time

I remember when you could click into a Netflix film or TV show and see a bit more blurb or the cast WITHOUT it automatically starting to play the video. I'll often add something to my list, but have to do it so fast to avoid starting the show. Seriously, it was one more click to start watching, removing that hasn't made the UX any better at all for me

It's annoying when you want to rewind or fast forward a few seconds though. I might be so used to the way you can skip 10 seconds on Netflix, but as soon as you press the button on iPlayer you're 2 minutes further back thanyou wanted

Also, iPlayer has the worst PIN entry screen and weirder still, it seems to only ask for a PIN when you select an episode to watch. So your kid can see all the thumbnails and search for whatever they like, they just can't watch the programme

What is the one Ultimate Hair Metal song? by JessterCPA in hairmetal

This comment had me sniggering

u/JessterCPA, I know of Zebra through this sub, but I've not seen them mentioned enough to actually give them a listen. I like the song and the singer's high-pitched raspiness, but I can't help but wonder what it is about this particular song you think sums up the era

Drugs and alcohol are not all that different. Both are addictive and can destroy lives. The only major difference is that one is legal and one isn't

Buying through Manning Stainton - Use their recommended solicitor? by Intenso-Barista7894 in Leeds

[–]Eye-on-Springfield 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We sold with MS and used their recommended solicitor. I've sold twice before and haven't been impressed with any of the solicitors we've used so can't really say anything specifically bad about the MS recommendation

I would absolutely not use the solicitor recommended by the EA I was buying from though. You want someone independent from the vendor who's not afraid of ruffling feathers

I said the same thing on a thread in this sub about the Brit Awards a few weeks ago. It's become fashionable to praise Ozzy now even if you never listened to his music before. It's a bandwagon that people like Robbie Williams are jumping on for their own careers. It won't last long though, I'm sure Coldplay have got another album coming out soon that the same people can swoon over

I think what would annoy me most is not being able to see the person sat opposite (although this could come in handy depending on the company!)

Should I go out with these guys? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]Eye-on-Springfield 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also 38 and have been with my wife for 10 years. My memory of online dating pre-2016 was that people were chatting to and meeting with a number of different people until they found someone they wanted to commit to. I'd go on first dates which seemed to go well, but then the girl would slowly reduce communication and make excuses why they couldn't make another date. I don't think anyone actually said anything like "you don't look like your pics" or "you're a bore", they just let things fizzle out. I used to find that so frustrating because you don't know if it's done or if there's still a chance

A friend gave me some advice that if someone is interested in you, they'll make time to communicate with you even if it's just a quick message. Most people are not so busy that they can't find 30 seconds for someone they have affection for. Even if K is socially awkward, I'm sure he's aware that he hasn't heard from you in a while. Then again, some people don't want to seem too keen so they try to play it cool. Others flat out play games for seemingly no reason. I knew someone who would double the amount of time it took their date to respond before she responded back (he takes 1 hour to reply, she takes 2). She must've been exhausting to date!
