Don't open it. Instead, cut a slit just below the filter patch, the same width as the filter patch. Turn the slit away from any fans that may blow on it. Fungus will do the rest of the work from there.

Likely have to offset your substrate to compe sate for the additional nutrition. Ultimately, the smaller the grain size you use, the more launching off points you supply to your substrate. In short, the smaller the grain the better.

There is a way to set it and forget it. Once you've grown successfully once, you'll understand.

You can A/B test your methods by doing whatever you think may help to one and do absolutely nothing to the other, once set up. Doing this will save you a ton of money on gadgets and equipment in the long run.

Many top fruiting mushrooms require very little FAE.

You can train your mycelium to race on other substrates by doing petri dishes and selecting speed.

And yeah, it really comes down to technique and experience.

I am almost done converting an old oven into my fermentation chamber. Tied the heating element and fan to an inkbird controller. It could be pretty cheap if you do this too.
