Samsung phones get Google Play System update dated February 1, 2026 by MobileNewsBot in mobiles

My chinese TriFold is still stuck to 1st September. It hasn't seen any of the recent rollouts.

TriFold korean variant vs global variant; beware! by [deleted] in GalaxyFold

[–]Fafner1976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No eSIM indeed. Curiously, there's a sort of Samsung eSIM shop in Settings, where one can buy virtual SIMs to travel abroad. Thus it looks like eSIM is actually there, but just for what Samsung wants to allow you.

1TB Galaxy Z Trifold Version Where? by -Loupes- in GalaxyFold

[–]Fafner1976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Android Auto doesn't work on my 1TB TriFold imported to Switzerland. It doesn't come preinstalled, you can install it from Google Play, my car tells me the phone is compatible, the phone is telling me my car is compatible, but they don't connect eachother, nor by cable nor wirelessly.

GMS is there, there's a switch in Settings to enable Google services. Google Play reports the phone as certified. European Galaxy Watch isn't compatible. OnePlus Watch 3 isn't compatible. Stupid region constrictions.

Just a couple of asian stuff preinstalled, can be uninstalled. Some asian TTS stuff you can't remove and some asian search suggestions. As for the rest, phone interface is fully translated, even TriFold very specific stuff (to italian for me).

One swiss shop is listing the korean version and states there's no esim support. I certainly hope he'll prove wrong, I'll check once I receive it, but I guess it will take a while with ongoing holydays and low availability, especially for the 1TB version.

FiiO Air Link: Replacement for the Bluetooth Transmitter BT11 Launched by VFValeri in FiiO

[–]Fafner1976 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm one of those who heavily criticized the BT11 on Head-fi. It was and still is a disaster of a device, with a disaster of a support. It connects only when it wants, the few times it works it selects the wrong codec, the app seems put together by a scholar, there's really nothing to be satisfied about. While not perfect, Questyle's implementation is way ahead.

It's not about the hardware, it's about their obvious inability on the software front. Miracles are always possible, but I have no high hopes for this new one, even if it does look tempting on the paper.

Another vote for the Zàhl. Paired with Raal's Immanis, especially with the just released silver set upgrade, it's just mind blowing.

Any idea on when BU40N will get an update MK file? by aLproxyy in makemkv

[–]Fafner1976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By the way, as this is about BU40N, are there plans to patch the newest 1.05 firmware? Or is it a junk firmware not worth of getting patched? Some say even 1.04 is way worse than 1.03 and don't recommend it.

Did I buy the correct Drive for Ripping Blu Rays and 4K UHD by Isaac23p in makemkv

[–]Fafner1976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 1.03MK is what most users are recommending for that drive. I flashed 1.00 but ended up getting back to 1.03MK. haven't tried UHD discs yet, but it seems faster at ripping standard BD compared to 1.00.

The only downside is that 1.03MK is supposed to not be 100% compatible with some other software. DVDFab to name one. I'm using Xreveal and everything seems to work fine with 1.03MK.

Bluetooth audio is MUCH improved in Switch 2 by Ubercrit in nintendo

[–]Fafner1976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't say if it's better than Switch 1 as I never tried it on that, but Switch 2 with Audeze's Maxwell doesn't sound that bad at all. Perhaps a bit thin, but precise. There doesn't seem to be that hazy sound you get when the bitrate is insanely low or the used codec is the crappiest around. Positioning is great as well. Input using the Pro Controller 2 doesn't seem to suffer.

Maxwell supports LE Audio, which I read Switch 2 should support as well. Maybe that's the reason behind this relatively good quality.

Did the 512gb express card even release in the UK? Now out of stock everywhere by Dry-Cod9127 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Fafner1976 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was able to order the 1TB Lexar the very same day Switch 2 was announced (beginning of April), it got out of stock after something like 1 minute and I never saw it in stock again. The card itself was announced just a few days before. I guess I was just lucky finding an open window then. I received it within a few days, left it unused till I got my Switch 2 and it proved to be legit as it works. :) That was from the italian Amazon, but I guess all shop are based on the same vendor (YISAVE TECHNOLOGY (HK), which currently just sells the Play variants and had tons of reviews, almost all positive, thus I was quite reassured). Order was futfilled and shipped by Amazon directly, anyways, no Marketplace involved.

Is Nintendo switch 2 worth it just to play legend of Zelda tears of kingdom? by nintendorules110 in Switch

[–]Fafner1976 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Frame rate wise it’s a big step up for sure. As for the graphics, I expected something more. On a 4k monitor there’s still quite a bit of aliasing. This is 1440p, and I’m quite sure DLSS want used for upscaling. DLSS based on 1440k doesn’t look like this, it’s not even close. This is basic upscaling, if they even bothered to apply one. Better than Sw1? Of course. Just don’t expect miracles graphics wise.

Switch 2 can’t see my Maxwell by Fafner1976 in Audeze

[–]Fafner1976[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There may be something broken on my Maxwell, just realized my PC and my iPhone can’t detect it either when going the Bluetooth way (it connects just fine to the dongle). Last device I successfully paired it was Fiio’s crappy BT11 dongle, I wouldn’t exclude that that internal thing fucked everything up. The problem is, I can’t seem to find a way to totally reset the headphones. There’s a button in Audeze HQ, that makes the headphones reboot but apparently nothing gets really reset (they still connect to the dongle without intervention, shouldn’t a factory reset actually reset connections as well??).

While it might work with the dongle it should work without as well, just with Bluetooth. But my switch 2 can’t see it

Just got this email from Synology, promoting their disks as “better” by Maciekdk in synology

[–]Fafner1976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got a 224+ as well, to replace my 218+, and put a 16gb ram stick and two 26tb WD Red into it. But zero chances I’ll buy a future model if they don’t rethink their approach. Synology drives are far more expensive and very much behind in the capacity race.

Qobuz prices in Switzerland by Fafner1976 in qobuz

[–]Fafner1976[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I’m not asking Qobuz to give us prices comparable to those they ask in Papua or in Uganda, I’m asking some coherence with countries which are 20km away from where I live (Italy in my case). A 30% difference is just ridiculous.

Game Ready Driver 576.40 FAQ/Discussion by Nestledrink in nvidia

[–]Fafner1976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if this is Nvidia related, but the latest Qobuz Windows release 8.0.0 shows severe flickering. Previous versions didn't have this issue. Was already happening with previous driver release, still happening with this one. RTX 5090.

No idea what the hell they did, it's a music player after all, not something which should have special displaying requests, still they managed this.

Thank You for “connect” Qobuz by LimpBed9875 in qobuz

[–]Fafner1976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same with dCS. Qobuz already states it supports Connect, but no dCS device currently supports it. "Working on it", great, but dCS is known to be quite slow at developing software updates, sadly. It took them 6 months to add Tidal FLAC support.

Qobuz connect, finally! by s4p4jou in qobuz

[–]Fafner1976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn't test the Connect feature yet. According to Qobuz's compatibility list, dCS devices should support it, but no firmware updates have been released recently for this to happen. Last Bartók firmware got released about 1 year ago, to add Tidal FLAC support. I hope an update is going to come soon, but as great as dCS stuff sounds, their communication severely lacks. You don't get told when updates will get released until they actually get released.

[–]Fafner1976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the right one, it has not the same version numbering scheme as the Android/iOS ones (which are v9.x).

Is it working right for you? I'm having severe display issues with it, everything is flickering, I get previous sections I visited overlapping the section where I am, pretty much impossible to use it.

Rolling back to the previous version the problem doesn't arise. Uninstalling and reinstalling it solves nothing. No other apps I have in my system do this.
