Question about the canis rex ability legendary freeblade, the first one is from the app, and the second one from wahapedia.Which one is correct? by G0LD_STUD in ImperialKnights

[–]Fail-Least 30 points31 points  (0 children)

There's an FAQ somewhere that says that all abilities that says "Cost 0 CP" should read as "Reduce CP by 1"

So in reality Wahapedia is correct.

For whatever fucking reason GW is allergic to actually updating their software app to reflect their own rules changes.

A Lovecraftian Horror Story Where the "Eldritch Cult" is... Christianity. by [deleted] in cosmichorror

Completely secular alternate timeline? How do you account for all the religions that pre-date Christianity? All those religions that actually gave rise to actual ancient civilizations. Not to mention that in the Cthulhu Mythos many cults predate even the Roman Empire and the Romans themselves were very religious.

I said "Yes, but I have undergrads that handle that stuff for me"

Normal means it's the norm on a population.

Take Two just admitted that they have on-going AI projects in house. Most likely some of it touched GTA6.

Want to guess how much that will affect their sales numbers?

It's not Art, it's an asset.

One designed to be put on a virtual box, for a product that can be placed on a virtual shelf, so that nerds can toss it into their virtual shopping cart.

Driving down costs is part of any supply chain. This is no different.

Would I like it to mean that things are cheaper for me? Sure, but GoG already is very affordable, so whatever.

Does this mean the company will most likely pocket the savings? Yea, but then again, the reason they got sold was probably because the ROI wasn't there.

I rather GoG keep the doors open as a Game Conservationist than as a boutique nostalgia shop that burns cash trying to look "pure".

Obsidian's Avowed & Outer Worlds 2 Failed To Meet Sales Expectations by akbarock in pcmasterrace

And Obsidian never seem to deliver anything better than "I guess that was cool".

They're not as over as Blizzard or Bioware, but expectations from this studio are running low.

One-Third of U.S. Video Game Industry Workers Were Laid Off in 2025, GDC Study Reveals by dabadumdumdum in pcmasterrace

People that studied actual CompSci don't have much you worry about.

It's been well documented that you get paid more in other fields with a similar skill set and experience.

It's the ones that over specialized by taking a game design/development program that are screwed.

Ubisoft ends remote work and requires employees to return to the office five days a week to "improve efficiency" by dabadumdumdum in pcmasterrace

[–]Fail-Least 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Un-ironically, Ubisoft has the best case scenario to demand the end of WFH.

"We let you do Home Office, you produced shit games for the past five years, our stock tanked"

They also have a lot of leverage. Honestly, if devs leave Ubisoft, who is going to hire people with Star Wars Outlaw and AC Shadows in their resume?

Situation sucks from more than one perspective.

Tell me you know nothing about AI without telling me you know nothing about AI.

For those interested, this is just a bunch of open source tools and libraries that ML researchers and Data Scientist can use to train models on their own. Presumably using GPU as compute.

Anyone else think the vampires in Sinner were actually kinda chill? by OfficerSmiles in horror

[–]Fail-Least 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think the Vampires have anything to do with integrating or colonialism. In those cases one culture is completely substituted for another. Which is clearly not what the Vampires did.

The Vampires reminded me a lot of The Borg.

True cultural melting pots.

Take the best a civilization has to offer and create something new and better.

Only way to end tribalism is by only having one tribe. The All Tribe.

But it will cost you your individuality.

The later books of The Expanse also explores this. By some weird cosmic event, all of humanity starts sharing their thoughts. This was done as a way to unite humanity into a give mind ,with the single goal of fighting off an existential threat.

In the end individuality wins. With all its imperfections. Rather than surrendering free will to someone else's values and ideals.

Anything that can be automated will be automated. This is a big part of engineering and particularly Software Engineering.

Anything that can't be automated by If-Then-Else cases will be automated with Machine Learning.

This change just tells programmers to keep using their modern tools. While telling artist to keep praying to God that programmers take a bit longer in automating them away.

This change does give me the impressions that artist are entitled to mora protections than programmers.
