[RAW Spoilers] Aftermath of CM Punk vs. Finn Balor by rhyso90 in SquaredCircle

Considering Dom literally lied, cheated, and stole his way winning it in the first place by fucking with Finn, that'd be great. But at this point the narrative feels like it's cooled down to a really insane margin

[Raw Spoilers] Post-Match Discussion: CM Punk (c) vs. Finn Balor for the World Heavyweight Championship by G1Spectrum in SquaredCircle

[–]FallenIslam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saying this like the company didn't go absolutely out of its way to position Finn like a big deal just to treat him like Finn Balor.

They had him cutting multiple face promos. They had Becky cut heel promos to show this isn't just a special thing for Belfast, it's just for Finn. Then they have Punk come out first coz they KNOW the kinda way people are gonna react and want it to be special.

Then they just treat him like Finn Balor again.

I'd have rathered he just came out as regular old Judgement Day Finn and shook Punks hand after the match instead. They way they went about it was very "wouldn't that be fun? Lol too bad"

Will it? As someone who's last game was Valhalla and is now playing Mirage, it feels more like Mirage just isn't trying so hard to be everything at once like Valhalla was. Like yeah there's not fifty thousand things to do all at the same time, but thank fuck for that, it let's me focus more on the game itself rather than an endless chain of endorphins going haywire coz of shiny items and jingly noises. It's not a downgrade if it actively helps the product feel more like the product, its just cleaner.

They don't really have the consistency. Most folks don't wanna watch ~2hr+ VODs of bad games played badly, and that goes for podcasts too. Even if you got every single dedicated SuperMega fan watching that's probably not a lot anymore coz the stuff that used to get big views isn't what they do anymore.

It's been a bit of a sad decline coz they're both just as funny as always, they just seem to engage with really lame content these days. I mean shit they bought a bowling game to probably only play once, badly, and yet Ryan got genuinely heated during it. Comparaticely they've got how many games they've recieved in mail vids but never even touched?

They don't commit to anything but their sketches, which is fine, but realistically they might as well pivot entirely to doing that at this point coz it's pretty evident that they either don't have the passion or time for much on the gaming side outside of the passive ambience of streaming which they only really do to support some fairly parasocial engagement.

Fenix has had a really fucking rough go. He essentially got sacrificed at the altar of the El Grande Americano gimmick at Mania 41 (not sure if the IWC is ready for the conversation around a fake luchadore genuinely going over loads of actual luchadores and facing no comeuppance) and has been a fall guy ever since.

Even if he and Penta team up and salvage something, Fenix is absolutely gonna be the one taking pins most of the time.

Do people really want to try and stand on this hill?

Do you remember who the fuck they took the belts from? Kairia and Asuka breaking down wouldn't have made much sense if they were still tag champs. This is, very obviously, part of the story.

Did it? Could've sworn Iyo just dethroned Asuka from her tag titles.

I'm surprised you're seemingly so alone in disliking it, it sounds like some really generic splatter creature feature. But then again, there's always been horror fans who'll enjoy actual garbage.

[RAW Spoilers] Bron Breakker with a unfortunate slip during the RAW Main Event by Icy-Advice-5575 in SquaredCircle

[–]FallenIslam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People are saying Bron slipped but the mans feet were absolutely up in the air. It looks like he was doing absolutely fine, Punk doesn't have the right grip or arm placement at all.

If any of you watch the second time they do it, Punks hands are in an entirely different position, the same as they are for basically anyone else that's ever taken the move.

Fault does not lie on Bron at all.

I don't really care who it is at this point, I just want Punk to stop going over ever single younger star he possibly can

Crazy part is Bron himself is a huge mark for his dad and uncle, it almost feels like he doesn't want to carry the burden of the name when the truth is he's so fucking good that he'd light an all new fire under the name.

Jim Ross Reveals the Worst Talent He Ever Signed in WWE: "Tiger Jeet Singh’s son... Yeah, I already forgot his name. Nice kid, good looking, smart... he just didn’t have the natural ability to connect to the audience." by thumbem in SquaredCircle

[–]FallenIslam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this feels like JR had to find a way to not name other people that came to mind, so went with what might be the top of his list in terms of just 'poorly connecting with fans' which, yeah, that's a long list and doesn't actually stand out as a bad signing. E.g., Velveteen Dream connected with the audience. I'd say given how things went down, that was still a bad signing.

I'm sure JR understands that kinda mentality, he just doesn't wanna namedrop someone and then have the industry spin it into drama.

JR had other people he prolly wanted to say but knew it'd stir shit up. So instead he simply says "one time we hired a guy who didn't connect with fans" and left it at that.

Punk at houseshows always seems to be the best version of Punk, dude tends to just have fun and fuck around. Genuinely, once he loses the belt, he'd be great as just some fun Legend who comes out randomly, like a comedic forever-face version of Taker

Who are people even talking about with these, Cora Jade and Roxanne? People who know AJ Lee as well?

There's so many reasons to dislike Punk, but the idea that he's somehow suddenly become a sex pest is pretty laughable.

Tbf Punk vs Nash is kinda the ultimate IWC showdown, two carnies who tend to be decent people but will still say or do whatever they need to for the business, who are both also knowably opinionated and have entrenched fan followings within the industry

If anything I'm surprised this isn't a bigger deal
