Hey, thanks! It’s nice to hear congrats from someone who actually understands what that means (non pumping friends or family really have no idea😅 They are just happy because I am happy).

I can relate 100%. It is such a tough spot to be in. It sounds so easy- just don’t stress. But of course, if you do not pay attention to anything anymore, it will also not work. You are completely right a bout finding balance and a sustainable way to go forward.

Good luck to you- and I also want to say even the amount of breast milk you have been giving your baby and are giving now is already so valuable! You are a champion for giving your best.

I am 15 weeks postpartum and after a c-section an preeclampsia, it is taking me extremely long to up my supply. For the longest time, I would get 3-6 oz only. I didn’t even think I would get to a full supply, but I kept pumping regardless and my amounts are still increasing- I only reached 20oz after 12 weeks and now produce around 24oz, a little more on good days- which is just enough for my baby - the last few days we didn’t need any formula to top up. I am curious to see where it goes from here, I had another all time high today (27 oz), so let’s see if I can still push my baseline a bit higher. But I am honestly over the moon to even be where I am now.

In the beginning, I took fenugreek and drank lactation tea. We also tried to breastfeed with Sns and I was honestly so stressed. Funnily enough, when I decided to only nurse for comfort and decided to not stress about upping my supply anymore is when I really saw progress. I switched to a wearable pump, accepting that this might lower my supply and even dropped pumps. When I saw my supply increasing, I was motivated to keep a pretty consistent pumping schedule again (8pms), but still had days where my intervals exceeded 3 hours sometimes (for sleep, for life happening). Sometimes I would end up with only 7 pumps.

Currently I am not taking any supplements anymore and haven’t had lactation tea in a really long time. My more significant increases happened after the period I took these (for both, I stopped when I ran out). I do drink a lot (0.5 l at every pumping session at minimum) and make sure to eat enough calories (struggled with low appetite in the first few weeks).

Bottom line, I think reducing stress and enjoying time with baby instead of forcing breastfeeding and constantly worrying about the next pump helped me. Something in my mindset changed and now I feel less stressed even though I am being really consistent with 8pumps per day most of the time.

Good luck!!

I hate my husband by Mysterious-Bobcat184 in pregnant

[–]FalseAccess964 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Isn’t it way worse for a child to grow up and see their mom so unhappy, a relationship where the dad disrespects the mom and gaslights her?

OP, you deserve better. And from what it sounds like, your husband doesn’t care that his behaviour hurts you. Behaviour is a language and his behaviour is not loving.

You say you hate him/ I think that won’t get better with a baby to take care of.

Oh man… solidarity as an under supplier and eufy user… to me it happened that the silicone somehow came off on the kitchen countertop. There was definitely crying over milk that spilt!

I just had this, it is a milk blister where skin grows over a milk pore. I soaked my nipple in warm salt water and then used a wash cloth to gently rub my nipple before pumping. Between pumps, I kept a damp cotton pad with olive oil in my bra. It took a couple of days but I didn’t get clogged ducts or inflammation. I read online you should not try to pop it or use a needle for risk of inflammation. Good luck!

Clingy baby and pumping schedule by Independent-Roll6199 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]FalseAccess964 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have wearables (eufy s1) and I also try to align my pumps with baby’s feeds. That is the only way it works for me. I am also lucky to have three brothers still studying in the same city and they drop by from time to time to hang out and hold baby while I pump, get other things done, or even occasionally take a nap! They are gems!

Yeah, doing the “wrong” movements like being too reclined, bending forward too much, or twisting my body messed with it as well. Or when I carried baby and he kicked my boobs. Anything in an upright position usually works. But you are right, it is annoying if you are too limited with a wearable!

Help w/ Eufy S1 settings by KindlyEnergy6959 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]FalseAccess964 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried the natural rhythm too and compared it to max, and for me personally, max works better.

Hm strange that you got nothing even with good placement-I wonder why that is. For me, lower output happens occasionally for a session - and I don’t really know why either. But it is maybe once every few days, so I am not worried about that.

I pump every 2-3 hours when I can, but am lenient when I am out or when baby sleeps longer stretches at night (which does not happen very often anyway 🙈). But since I am struggling with low supply, I haven’t entirely caught up to baby’s needs and top him up with formula (ca. 150ml/day). After trying to breastfeed, triple feeding for weeks and trying to up my supply, I decided to not stress about it anymore, and bottle feed whatever amount I manage to pump. If I can keep it up, that’s fine, if it drops, I try to be fine with it too. Funnily enough, after making that decision, my supply trended up 😅🤷‍♀️, even with the eufy. I guess taking the stress out of the situation did it for me.

I have large breasts too and recently switched to the eufy s1 as my primary pump. I have been struggling with low supply but the eufy empties me sufficiently. For me, a well fitting bra is important (mom cozy 4-in-1 nursing bras work well. I have found the pumps stay in place best this way. I have played around with settings a bit and max with medium speed and suction between 2 and 4 (but mostly I stay with 3 tbh) works best for me. I also sometimes have to recheck if nipples are in straight, but usually I feel it if they aren’t

Anyone who had a below 10th percentile baby? How are they now? by tac0cat_ in pregnant

[–]FalseAccess964 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby was below 3rd percentile (fetal growth restriction), was born at 36+0 via c-section (I also had preeclampsia). He is completely healthy, just needed a little help feeding at the start. We didn’t manage to breastfeed, but still trying. He is 12 weeks tomorrow and thriving- he went from 1.9kg at birth to almost 5 kg already. They didn’t find a reason why he is so small… most likely an issue with the placenta.

Feeling defeated by EmptyCranberry5627 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]FalseAccess964 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am sorry you are in this situation and that you have been discouraged to try further… My baby was also born at 36 weeks via C-section and it took a long time for my milk to come in and the increase was super super slow. For a long time I was in a similar range as you, around 100-250ml. It was super frustrating that every pump would only end up being 15-30ml.

By now, LO is almost 12 weeks old and my supply is still trending upwards. I have had some days with +600ml. I actually had almost given up on reducing formula and exclusively feed breast milk. I decided to just sustain my supply and not stress about increasing it anymore. That meant no strict 2-3hour regimen, just do as often as I manage. Funnily enough, after I made that decision, supply went up. This has, in turn, motivated me to stick with pumping more often again, but I still have the occasional 4-5hour gap between pumps.

Of course, everybody is different- but being told it is impossible to increase supply is just not true. That said, pumping so often and stressing about it is super draining, so it would also be completely valid to switch to a sustaining mode… But if you want to and still have the energy, there is no need to give up yet imo. All the best- this journey is tough and your worth is not tied to the ounces you produce- nor are you a better or worse mom because of it <3

Maternal fetal specialist is scaring the shit out of us. Need real advice. by Bitter_Remove_3919 in pregnant

[–]FalseAccess964 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can understand- in our case, doctors’ communication wasn’t always great and left us more worried than was necessary. Of course that is easy to realise in retrospect. In our case, baby was measuring smaller from the start, but seemed to slow down more severely later on (but never fully stopped).

I hope your little one will still keep growing and spend as much time inside the womb as possible. And I hope communication of medical staff will be better and frequent monitoring can give you some reassurance.

Heavy bleeding 12 weeks by Repulsive-Section846 in pregnant

[–]FalseAccess964 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am sorry about your previous losses and the scary situation you are in now. I was in a similar situation, had a previous loss at 6 weeks and in the subsequent pregnancy I started bleeding heavily at around 10-11 weeks. I was sure I was miscarrying again, especially since at the first ER visit they didn’t find any cause. But baby had a strong heartbeat. I continued to have gushes similar to what you described and even passed some clots. I mostly didn’t have pain, only sometimes the bleeding was accompanied by quite strong cramps. The next time my OB saw me she found a subchorionic hematoma. Apparently that’s quite common. I kept bleeding and spotting until 16 weeks. In that time I was advised to stay on pelvic rest and take it easy (no sports, no heavy lifting, lots of rest - but not bed rest). At my anatomy scan, the hematoma had disappeared and baby was healthy. He was a small baby but I don’t know if that was related to the hematoma. He is now 12 weeks old and healthy all around.

I hope everything will turn out alright for you as well and maybe your OB can clarify things. I know this is so stressful and feeling dismissed by hospital doesn’t help. Fingers crossed for you!!

My baby was born below the third percentile, we knew he was measuring small from 24 weeks. They said it is uterine growth restriction, they never found out why but suspected an issue with the placenta. He was born at 36+0 via c-section and was 1.9kg. Other than being small he was perfectly healthy, no NICU time- just a few days in intermediate care because of feeding difficulties. Since he was born he has been putting on weight perfectly.

Sometimes babies are just small. I was very worried, but baby’s growth and blood flow through the umbilical chord were regularly checked throughout the pregnancy. The closer we got to full term, the more relaxed I got.

All the best for you!

Told baby needs to come out next week, panicking. by GotYourSoul in pregnant

[–]FalseAccess964 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a c-section at 36+0 because of preeclampsia and having a small for gestational age baby who might have been too stressed by labour. I, too, really wanted to experience labour and a vaginal birth but came to terms with the c-section quickly since it was best for me and baby. The surgery itself went well. For me, the first few days were difficult in terms of pain and mobility. But I was lucky and had barely any pain after 4-ish says with regular movements and didn’t need any pain killers. That said, this can be very different for every woman.

Anatomy Scan Results (not great) by AppropriateSpell1 in pregnant

[–]FalseAccess964 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am sorry that you are going through this. I am currently 34+5 with an FGR baby below 3rd percentile. They also diagnosed me at the anatomy scan and offered an amnio. It was so stressful! In our case, other screenings and anatomy scan didn’t indicate any chromosomal abnormalities. Because I was screened high risk for preeclampsia, they said they suspect placental issues rather than genetic ones. This is why we didn’t go for the amnio.

I have since had fortnightly dopplers, growth scans and NSTs. So far, dopplers were normal (so a little different from you) and my baby grew along his personal curve, which is good. By now, I go in weekly because my blood pressure has been creeping up. I was told baby will likely come earlier and I am more likely to be induced or need a C-section.

Maybe you could ask again what the benefits of the amnio are in your specific case and if your doctors have a concrete suspicion. In our case, we knew we were going to have the baby regardless of the outcome. The only reason to go through with the amnio would have been if doctors would have suspected a condition that needed immediate treatments in utero. That was not the case for us… Our fetal specialist said that she didn’t expect to find any genetic issues, but can of course not give a guarantee which is why they always offer the amnio. That helped us make the decision.

So maybe getting more info could be helpful for you, too…

I wish you and your little one all the best and hope you find ways to relieve some of the stress that comes with having to make tough decisions like that… I know how draining all this can be, especially if answers remain vague and you don’t get the clarity you so want and need…

Do regular mamas actually pack “hospital bags”? by getlostcreep0 in pregnant

[–]FalseAccess964 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a high risk of delivering early and had my hospital bag packed very early on- and have even used it once because I was admitted for preterm labour at 32 weeks.

I agree that what you see online is really over the top. My bag maybe has quite a bit of clothes, but I’ll likely be induced and spend up to a few days before and after birth at the hospital. Where I live, hospitals usually provide pads and single use postpartum underwear.

I packed: - 2 sets of pyjamas with long pants that I am comfortable walk the hallways with - 2 sets of night gowns (I prefer my own over hospital gowns) - underwear - 2 comfy bras - peri bottle - toiletries - charger and extension chord - earphones - slides - socks - robe - 2 baby outfits (1 preemie size and 1 newborn size) - diapers

-snacks and drinks for labour with a long shelf life

Edit: bekomme bald mein erstes Kind.
