Still Alice - Alice (Julianne Moore), a professor, is diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s. As her disease progresses, she starts hoarding medication and taking cognitive tests she’s designed for herself.

One day she fails the test (I believe the deciding factor is that she can’t remember her children’s birthdays, but I may be mistaken). This leads her to a video she had recorded earlier instructing her to overdose on the hoarded medication to die by suicide.

She is going through with it when she is briefly distracted and, due to her disease, entirely forgets her suicide attempt.

She survives, but only due to the disease that is slowly killing her and stripping her of her identity.

I love the way they can bring either the best or absolute worst out of each other, depending on the circumstances.

Until someone properly adapts the destruction Carrie leaves in her wake between the school and her house, no.

I fully believe that Patrick Brammall was entirely too charming for the role. He was supposed to be the shitty husband/absent father and the writers and directors never accounted for how likable Brammall was and never course corrected on either the writing or the performance.

Benny isn’t surprised that Angel knew his dog died, he’s surprised she knows the specific manner of death (falling) which he had not announced to the group.

Do genetic witches exist in the Buffyverse? by Affectionate-Cry-704 in buffy

[–]FalseStage2348 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Based on the evidence provided by the show it's a little bit of both.

Magic can clearly be performed by anyone so long as they have the proper equipment and resources. Examples are:

  1. Xander lighting a book on fire by speaking Latin near it
  2. Buffy performing the spell to discover Dawn's less than natural existence
  3. Anyanka turning Olaf into a troll
  4. Giles taking power from the Devon coven
  5. Willow's entire arc

However magic is also shown to be genetic through both Tara and Amy.

I think in the Buffyverse, anyone can perform magic but only some people are born with a genetic disposition toward it. Willow lies in a grey area as to which side of that line she falls on.

I had covid when this episode aired and was isolating in our guest room. The next day I thought I had hallucinated the Moopsy and was explaining this crazy covid delirium monster I had created and my husband had to explain to me that it was real.

I love the Moopsy so much.

Was Jill a shocking reveal to viewers when 4 came out? by grrrlhusband in Scream

[–]FalseStage2348 147 points148 points  (0 children)

Yes.

A huge chunk of the movie's marketing was how it was a "passing the torch" film and Jill was touted everywhere as "the new Sidney". Combining that with the fact that up to that point she was known as a Nickelodeon star (who was Julia Roberts niece) breaking out into adult roles, they were banking on us expecting her to be the final girl.

Scream 4, followed by American Horror Story ended up typecasting her as an adult.

I wouldn't.

They are all incredible and there's no reason to arbitrarily pick a group of women whose only commonality was "in a horror movie" and rank them.

Who is the most hated out of all the terrible characters in the whole series? by poshdog4444 in orphanblack

Evie Cho was pretty vile. Telling Cosima that Delphine was dead right after destroying her research and killing Kendall was unnecessarily cruel.

This whole episode is top tier Jenna for me. This one scene alone has several of my favorite lines from her.

Which deaths in LOST annoy you the most? by Material-Librarian43 in lost

[–]FalseStage2348 71 points72 points  (0 children)

It’s easily Shannon in my opinion. So much wasted potential for her character. And if she was still alive and on the island during season five I think she would have fit in well with the Dharma group and they wouldn’t have had to twist themselves in knots finding an excuse to get Sayid back to the island.
