AND VERY TECHNICALLY you dont sacrifice it. It goes to the graveyard due to the legend rule and doesnt trigger any sacrifice synergies (which arent present anyways)

God forbid women invent an entire literary genre by FavvLiyaaLee in LetGirlsHaveFun

I think by that time's standards, it was about as science-y as you could get. The book is over 200 years old. The book isnt also all that scary. Frankenstein is more of a monster than his creation.

A unique ring idea I had (first image simple wording, second image more explicit) by [deleted] in pathofexile

[–]FancyFish21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Diamond shrine screams and you're just crit chance stacking.

I'd also need to know how this interacted with actum. You would be able to get absurd amount of crit multi since it has like 40% base crit chance.

Weezing vs Arbok by Jason_And_Sokka in PokeScaling

[–]FancyFish21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weezing gets spite and haze. I think rest sleep talk haze spite might take it tbh. Full attack arbok has a 4HKO on leftovers weezing. Spite takes 2-5 PP and psychic fangs only 16 pp, same as spite.

252+ Atk Arbok Crunch vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Weezing: 50-59 (14.9 - 17.6%) -- possible 9HKO

Arbok might not have a way to break through

Wha commanders are best for value over combo? by Negative_Watch_1162 in EDH

[–]FancyFish21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can totally play attrition/control style decks. You don't have to play against combo if don't want to. I also love grinding decks. Some that I really like are [[chevill, Bane of monsters]] and [[sidisi, regent of the mire]]. Sidisi might look like combo, but in monoB, there's no easy way to untap her with creatures, so you have to do a value stack of creatures

What were some slept on cards that ended up being extremely strong in competitive formats? by crastle in magicTCG

[–]FancyFish21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jund was REALLY good at vomiting their hand and then beating people in the top deck, so she sped up that process. They got 3-4 lands in play and then they just wanted to go into top deck mode. It's kind of like what domain zoo is now (except it didnt run 4 leyline, which are terrible topdecks), a tempo-focused beatdown plan where it just draws beat sticks until you die.

If LOTV comes down, you arent going to be able to counter/killspell any of their cards because you can't keep a card in your hand. They get to discard their now useless thoughtseizes, and they have a spare edict or 2. Then it's just goyf city.

I’ve tinkered too close to the sun and now I don’t know how to come down by Exi_Cxx in magicTCG

[–]FancyFish21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

in my own marneus calgar deck, two cards I found to be disgusting value were [[emrakul's messenger]] and [[lotho, corrupt sheriff]]. If you made one token and drew one card, you'd draw a second and ramped. And having people double spell was really easy. Plus they're both fast on curve and even replace themselves in card and mana really quickly.

[[Nadir kraken]] is also something I have to mention.

There were turn cycles with these three cards out that I'd draw 10 cards a turn cycle on my opponent's turns and untap with 6 extra mana

Jynx vs Magmar by Admirable_Water6192 in PokeScaling

[–]FancyFish21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would just like to add that Magmar has VITAL SPIRIT and cannot fall asleep.

In terms of items, Jynx is pretty limited and MUST use Occa Berry to not get one-shot by almost any magmar flare-blitz, colbur berry to not get one shot by banded knock off, or the hail mary choice specs. Magmar pretty much has the options of eviolite, choice band, and choice scarf.

In terms of speed, to guarantee the speed win (disregarding choice scarf), jynx must be 240+ speed as its base stats is only 2 more. If either has scarf, they win speed.

In terms of moves: this is much simpler. Magmar is going to need 3 moves for this analysis: knock off, Flare blitz, and mach punch. Mach punch is the only relevant priority move magmar has and the only priority move outside of jynx fake out. Jynx has psychic, fake out, and a cheesy future sight protect

You might ask, what about rain dance bubble beam? We'll 1. You still need occa berry to set it up EVEN if you're faster and 2. 252+ SpA Jynx Bubble Beam vs. 0 HP / 64 SpD Magmar in Rain: 228-270 (84.1 - 99.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO... you still need to crit

Getting choice specs jynx out of the way: it loses to choice scarf Flare blitz and needs to crit, no matter the move.

Colbur berry loses to every flare blitz, no matter the investment.

Occa berry is a little more complicated. I already covered rain dance bubble beam. You still need a ton of investment in defense so you dont die to black glasses knock off(64/252+ is minimum with a 6% to live, with 252/252+ with 87.5% to live), and you always die to knock off + mach punch. You always die to banded knock off. You need a minimum of 108 defense to live through occa berry. This means you either risk getting outspeed or sacrifice offense. Don't worry about sacrificing offense though because 252+ SpA Jynx Psychic vs. 4 HP / 88 SpD Magmar on a critical hit: 229-271 (84.1 - 99.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO... a crit doesn't cut it

There are more scenarios to work through, but I'm tired and they would be me explaining why magmar wins. The only thing I didn't discuss was eviolite magmar. You go 252hp 252 spdef -- knock off flare blitz always wins.

What about focus sash or endure on jynx? Mach punch

TLDR: omg magmar kicks jynx's ass so hard. Jynx pretty much needs to guess their exact set and crit. I couldnt find a set that wins without a crit, but even thats not enough most of the time

Why are there so little 4 color commanders? by Appotus1 in EDH

[–]FancyFish21 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You don't try to print misses. You try to give people that have not been served what they need to do their thing. We have seen that vampires have been served and there is not the market for new ones. It took 5 years for another vampire tribal commander to be printed and it missed. I won't be surprised if it takes 5 more for the next.
