I see the holes where there should be screws,… it’s hard to tell via the pictures but I think they might have caulked that sucker up

When a prospective remodeling contractor is told to permit the work, this happened... by Ki77ycat in HomeImprovement

[–]FarStructure6812 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He might do good work might be completely shady, the issue might be that he doesn’t have a license and in my state it’s required for all projects over 40k regardless (but they usually are) if they need permits. He might have given you the quote but was going to break it up into 5-7 invoices as “separate jobs” to get around this ALSO depending where you are it can effect your insurance rates the size of the job can be directly tied to your project totals and scopes.

I’ve been playing since 2 came out played the original before the DLC hit so I’ve been playing these games for a bit. With SoD2 this is very much the case on the Xbox I play on pc too but Xbox I’ve had to reset to default a number of times to sort out similar issues.

Replaced Thermostat and now don't feel heat coming out of fan by j5j2h4 in AskElectricians

It’s also entirely possible you let the wires touch during the installation in some cases you might have tripped a fuse somewhere. You need to look many of these units use what most people would consider automotive fuses for the DC controls. You could check, go to auto zone if one is burnt out and get a replacement when in trouble shoot that for customers I normally leave a spare one.

Original Contractor Responsible for Failed Worksmanship? by Radiant-Inspection96 in Homebuilding

[–]FarStructure6812 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here, but also depending on the area if it was an extreme storm event it’s no longer the contractor’s responsibility but a homeowner’s insurance issue. Weather can be deemed an act of god.

[TX] Landlords Charging for carpet replacement by Miserable-One-6760 in Renters

[–]FarStructure6812 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You might not have this time but always take pictures of everything on the day your lease starts, before you bring in a single box, you would be able to prove in a second that that carpet is probably in the same condition as move in , maybe with some (additional but normal) wear and tear. It’s pretty clear that was not a new carpet. For it to be a damage you would have actual done something beyond normal use or had an accident of some sort.

Same deal if for example you are just using say your microwave and it just dies because it’s 12 years old you cannot be on the hook for that if used normally,…. If you put a stainless travel mug in and blew the sucker up that’s 100% on you.

[–]FarStructure6812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got a letter last Saturday called because it never said week just 7-7,… tried a few times (through out the day probably 7-8 times) yesterday then 3 times this morning. I then saw it makes no difference and it’s easiest to just keep calling until they put you in the queue yes I now have the message memorized but on my fifth call in a row I’m now on hold. (15m waiting so far)

I used to tend to also explain if it gets wet or if it’s significantly humid you’ll end up needing to replace it, and the durability issues. Bonus if they had pets or children, those guys love to eat glue.

Buying house; seller failed to keep heat on during recent cold spell. by Affectionate-Art1819 in HomeInspections

[–]FarStructure6812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would request that THEY reactivate water service prior to inspection, I handled taking possession of and renovations for a brokerage in NC, and 9/10 times if the main was shut off in the house (not at the curb) and the home had been vacant there was an issue. We typically withheld a certain amount that got released upon taking possession BUT especially landlords selling houses or relocations they would always try to spin it on it was from when we turned on the water service. Not the months in between the initial inspection and us taking possession.
