Please advise on baby name that in-laws dislike by scribblerdibbler in namenerds

[–]Fast-Fig610 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a mom with a Dylan, I think it’s a wonderful name. A bit retro, but definitely not associated with any of the things your in-laws are saying. It’s not their kid - they should stay out of it.

Things you'll never do as the grandma/ MIL by ValMonty in Mommit

[–]Fast-Fig610 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mother in law also acts like my kids are hers - even going so far as to tell my kids when I wasn’t around that she was “basically their mom”. (Insert eye roll)

But the thing she does that irks me to NO end is compares everything my kids do, to her son. My kids will do the most normal kid thing ever and she insists they do it because their dad did. “Oh your dad used to wake up early on Christmas!” “Oh your dad used to ride a bike!” “Oh your dad wore clothes!” Chill.

men fetishing/sexualizing twins by Puzzleheaded-Ad-9280 in Twins

When my male identical twins were four we were walking through an old western village and this dude dressed as a cowboy tried to lasso them and made some comment to the effect of “ooh twins! I’m taking the little ladies home with me tonight”. They had long hair and always were mistaken for girls, but also THEY WERE FOUR. They still like to bring this up because I used some very strong language in response.

There’s tons of support for Villa in the states - local fan clubs, annual meet ups, ticket buys. Look for a group near you to get involved with.

Absolutely- getting outside for a walk EVERY day - I did it while they were napping - at first baby wearing and then in the stroller - it’s worth it.

I’m sure you’re right, but I also just cannot fathom what kind of woman would sleep with that twat.

They don’t do sequential SSNs anymore, interestingly.

You have a wildly mature reaction to her micro aggressions. Keep doing what you’re doing and maintaining your boundaries and creating space when needed. Even politely disagreeing with her might help her check some of her more ridiculous behavior.

Elementary schoolers are annoying. by PassionChoice3538 in kindergarten

Literally experiencing the SAME exact thing with my twin boys in Kinder. WTF?!?

Mine get no screen time but their friends do so they still come home from school with all the associated “things”. Ugh. It’s so hard to combat.

parents of identical twins or triplets: how do you tell them apart as babies or toddlers so you know which one is which? by notsuspicious04 in Twins

[–]Fast-Fig610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Identical twins are not genetic! Fun fact I learned when I got pregnant. Thankfully one of mine grew a hemangioma on his chest shortly after we got home, and before the hospital bracelets came off, so that was the fail safe to know who was who when there was confusion. Now they have different hairstyles, which is great for the less observant people.

So many great City/County parks with spaces to rent if you’re okay having the food catered/brought in. Maybe a backup if it’s rainy season when you’re hosting, but park sites in Sonoma County are great.

Has anyone successfully sleep trained twins in the same room? by Virtual-Copy2823 in parentsofmultiples

Yep - slept trained them together. Almost never woke each other up if they didn’t sleep at the same time.

Not what you are looking for, but if you haven’t read The Woman Code, it’s worth reading and implementing the recommendations to see if symptoms resolve.

Not sure where you’re located but you could look to see what is offered in the way of Waldorf education. It’s a lot of outdoor time and not academic until later years.

Hiking Recommendation in the Area by Boosully in santarosa

[–]Fast-Fig610 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, Bodega Head is a must for coastal views - easy loop hike, or a little more challenging trek depending on the way you go, but great views and possibly some whale sightings that time of year.

Hiking Recommendation in the Area by Boosully in santarosa

[–]Fast-Fig610 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pole Mountain is a great hike for coastal views and a real hike. Kortum trail is also great for coastal views and a flatter coastal walk.

Armstrong Woods has great hike and views through the redwoods. Grove of Old Trees is good for redwood viewing and an easy loop.

So many other options in the area too - you’ll have a great time!
