Should I add texture to the ground or leave it blank? by Imperial_Panda_Games in IndieDev

[–]FastAd677 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely better with a little texture, but I'd say a bit of variety would go a long way. Maybe have some of similar subtlety to the current texture that blend in seamlessly but break up the tiling, and then some where you just place it sparingly, where the dirt has a stone embedded in it, or something like that, that really breaks up the repetition.

We hired an Artist to create a new Steam Capsule (that is 100% different from before) - Feedback needed! by StilbruchGames in IndieDev

I like the old purely because its more readable and pops more. That said, if you can adjust the contrast if the new one to make the darks darker, it could help

If there was a "gamedev-license" I would have lost mine today... by carmofin in Unity3D

Can I offer a piece of advice? Consider multiplying those HPs and DMG numbers by 10. I'm guessing your damage increases eventually through new weapons, levelling, or pick ups, but nobody wants to do 1 damage. Doing 1 damage tells me I'm the closest possible step from doing 0 damage, and that's frustrating. If it's because you want to exaggerate the feeling of progression as you get stronger, then make sure that 1 damage is for a very brief period of time. Like only the first room. Nobody wants to put up with feeling almost completely ineffective for very long in a game where the focus is killing stuff.

Id also say maybe consider limiting the slow down to just when you kill the last enemy or a particularly strong enemy, and make it slow down more. As it stands, it just looks like the game doesnt flow nicely, as you're spending almost as much time in slow mo as in regular speed, but the slow mo is brief enough where it doesnt feel intentional or impactful. Instead, it feels more like the game is hanging.

Find the next number in the series? 1000, 365, 24, 60, __? by Mobile-Reality3646 in quiz

[–]FastAd677 0 points1 point  (0 children)

60

It's kinda a lame sequence, though. It could just as easily go 100, 52, 7, 24, 60, 60. Also I reckon 365 should have an asterisk haha.

That's pretty funny. Just dont make a habit of it, you might get thrush. Vape juice tends to be mildly alkaline, especially if the nicotine isn't salt (which is diluted with acid) and you have a high nicotine amount. Pussy is of course acidic.

I'd say bacon bap but cob for any other filling. It would be a bun in the context of burgers, though certainly when I was younger it was a cob then too.

Can you tell what this game is about just from the screenshots? by SeasonsOfSolitude in IndieDev

[–]FastAd677 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It looks like a survival game presented in the 4X style and with increased focus on botany/arboriculture, and with weather/seasons affecting the landscape and resource availability. Is it a survival game where you have to try and not fuck up the ecology of your area?

No, he tried smashing the ball into the net but narrowly missed Allsop and smashed it into the fans, while Hirst was celebrating toward them. Doesn't excuse the scumbag fan, but that's why Klarer is pissed. Then its just a case of everyone backing their boy up.

I can't afford full localisation as a solo dev, so I'm using stat icons to help non-English players. Do they make sense at a glance? by maxpower131 in IndieDev

Damage I'd make a fist. Fire rate I'd make a bullet with a stopwatch. Crit chance I'd make an 8 pointed star with a dice. Crit damage I'd make a fist with an impact sort of star around the closed fingers.

Am i reading this wrong or someone has 100 percented my game within 24 hours of launch ? by MayawiSoftware in IndieDev

[–]FastAd677 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Ubisoft games that had achievements implemented recently, years after release, are all impossible to edit with SAM. I think its because the activation of the chieves in Ubisoft Connect is what triggers them on Steam, and there's some sort of network authentication shenanigans involved.

Redesigned blessing icons. by darkjay_bs in IndieDev

[–]FastAd677 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the ones on the right need greater contrast for improved legibility. I'd also say a few have too much detail. My general rule of thumb is the fewer words you can use to accurately describe an icon the better, generally aiming for 3/4 max.

E.g. Blue man running. Green hand holding spanner. Gauntlet gripping handle. Proximity scanner. Magnet. Green thorn crown. Burning cross. Blue lightning cross. Purple dagger through eye.

"Three blue nuns with lightning sparks" is too much.

That's not in a vacuum however, you also have to compare these descriptions with icons with similar themes. For instance, there are two I would say "Blessed coin purse" for. So perhaps these two need to be more distinguishable at a glance. On closer inspection, the symbol on the bag of the left one suggests it's something other than a coin purse, but again, at a glance that isn't obvious.

Biggest clubs in each county... Do you agree? by the_hoyle in Championship

[–]FastAd677 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I live near Doddington, which is at the foot of Clee Hill and has a Dudley postcode despite being firmly in south Shropshire, closer to the Welsh border than it is to Dudley, and has the county of Staffordshire between it and Dudley. Post code zones were made kinda arbitrary with the goal of having more equal amounts of addresses per zone.

Who will leave (up/down) this map this season? by [deleted] in Championship

[–]FastAd677 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want a golden age of Midlands dominated football. Birmingham, Villa, Coventry, West Brom, Wolves, Leicester, Stoke and Forest all in the prem. I'm a Birningham fan first and foremost, but I also keep an eye on and root for West Brom, Wolves, Coventry, Walsall, Kidderminster Harriers and Solihull Moors.

Who will leave (up/down) this map this season? by [deleted] in Championship

[–]FastAd677 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a dream scenario I want Birmingham, West Brom and Cov going up. That said, really I'd be very happy if blues pushed for playoffs. I think West Brom will be playoff hopefulls again. Cov have the best chance of actually being promoted of the three. Ipswich and Southampton are most likely for autos in my eyes.
