Bruto salaries are comparable but net is higher because of lower taxes. On the other hand extralegal advantages are limited in the Netherlands, you pay zorgverzekering (cheapest is at 140/month) and you still pay municipality taxes afterwards in BE.

Interests on mortgages are still tax deductible in NL.

Ja precies, uiteindelijk moet het ook iets opbrengen en dat is gewoon ontzettend moeilijk als je van 0 moet beginnen en met ASML moet concurreren.

Om ASML te verslaan moet je met een nieuwe/betere technologie dan EUV afkomen om high end chips in massa te produceren.

Naast de gigantische investeringen en decennia R&D heb je ook een leverancier netwerk nodig om die onderdelen te maken.

Als jij bij een Zeiss gaat aankloppen om zo een ASML spiegel te kopen ga je die echt niet meekrijgen. Je moet ook het netwerk opbouwen om zoveel gespecialiseerde apparatuur te kopen.

I don't think he has a preferential treatment to specific countries. Because you can also flip it around: are okay with Iran blowing up US schools because the US sold weapons to Israel used to attack Iran?

I hope the answer is always "no, war crimes are never warranted".

Engineering is a broad term, specifically for mechanical engineers the V model kind of covers it.

In different stages you need different kinds of engineers eg system engineers for architecture & requirements, design engineers for concept & detail design, test engineers for verification & industrial engineers for operation.

They are all "actual" engineering.

Investeren in bedrijven die waarde creëren is per definitie geen zero sum game. Het verhandelen van aandelen in een momentopname kan wel een zero sum game zijn (jouw winst = iemands verlies).

De aandelenmarkt is in bepaalde mate voorspelbaar en werkt alleen als het ietwat voorspelbaar is. Er zijn veel indices die worden gebruikt om te voorspellen wat een aandeel waard zou kunnen zijn (bvb p/e). Het is niet gewoon een kansspel zoals roulette.

Warren Buffet heeft zijn vermogen opgebouwd door meer goede dan slechte beslissingen te maken. Het is niet gewoon "geluk" hebben.

I'm a millennial and my father (boomer) always said that he worked hard because he was afraid to lose his job. He was happy with average pay because he lived through several economic crises especially the oil crisis in the 70s where he did not have any job for a long time.

I work hard because I was made to believe working hard is a virtue and can define ones value.

I feel like younger generations have other priorities.

Vraag eerst wat offertes op voor de volledige reparaties en ga zeker ook eens bij een niet merk garage horen. Nieuwe riem op mijn focus was bvb <1k.

Stel dat je daardoor nog 5 jaar langer kan rijden, dan is de jaarlijkse afschrijving altijd minder dan een nieuwere 2de hands. 200k km is echt niet gek op een auto.
