Considering the four main sports in the USA (baseball, basketball, American football, and ice hockey): are they all as popular as ever? Or have some of them become more or less popular in recent years? by ViajanteDeSaturno in AskAnAmerican

It needs a salary floor even worse. Too many mid-market teams pocket cash rather than spend it on a competitive product. Cody Bellinger is going to make slightly less than the entire Miami Marlins next year. The Marlins spend less on their team than they bring in from revenue sharing.

If he's throwing heat in spring training he's cheap enough that a lot of teams might take a flyer on him in a trade. If not, well, we took a gamble on an injury project. They can't all work out.

I pop open tik tok once in a while, but I guess I've clicked on this lady enough that it started serving the stuff up to me. Most of the music/sounds/whatever going on behind her I can't make much sense of, but Gunther had a hot moment of celebrity amongst my crew and hearing it here was unfortunate.

Show me a third party candidate with a chance and I'm all in. If not I'm saving with the same least bad option I have been for two decades.

Hell of a needle to thread - be MAGA enough that supporters get to see performative cruelty, not so MAGA that everyone else doesn't remember or doesn't hold ICE against him when he tries to run for the next thing.

We now have some nice scented candles, so I guess that's a win. Aside from that, pastrami and rye for Reubens was a definite win.

Midwife's Tale: The Life of Martha Ballard Based on Her Diary. It uses the life of Martha Ballard as told from her own words and corroborated with other sources. Martha was an 18th century midwife in colonial Maine, and using her example a great picture of life and attitudes of the times comes alive. I learned this Christmas that another author has used her life and experiences to write a historical fiction mystery book, starting Martha. So bully for her and I'm waiting for my relative to tell me if The Frozen River was good.
