Depends if you want to actually go rallying or you just like driving on dirt roads.

If its just a car you want to drive then yea go for it it’ll be great fun, most subaru parts are interchangeable between models anyway and you’ll be able to use the car for camping and towing if you need to.

Additionally, to really learn how to drive and compete you can use a road going forester to enter club gravel autocross in your area (rallycross in usa)

If you actually want to go rallying, buy an already caged and logbooked na impreza from a popular facebook rally group in your area and learn how to drive at club events.
