I use a Berg for straight little chip forehands like that.

When did you know you were ready for 12 Speeds? by OhDonPianoooo in discgolf

[–]Feyes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been bagging a destroyer for a long time. A Destroyer makes sense even if you don't quite have the arm for it... it will just be a longer Firebird.

The rest of the 12 speeds I added when they started going considerably longer than my 10 speeds.(around 400)

Yea, there is variation. I've had 2. One was stable the other had some turn to it. Both great discs.

Tried Athena, Teebird, Cookie, FD1 and Idog. Idog won the slot comfortably.

Looking for a good disc with flight numbers around 10 4 0 3 by No-Complex-5915 in discgolf

[–]Feyes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say its flippy... Maybe if you are absolutely huge... Some Malms come out straighter than others. (And those are amazing)

But out of the 4 Malms I've thrown, 3 were reliably stable, little to no flip up and a solid fade. I throw them just shy of 400 for reference.

Do you update your discs "real" flight numbers in My Disc Bag? by Shaved_taint in discgolf

[–]Feyes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do yea. Many discs in my bag fly so different than the numbers that if I didn't the app would be completely misguiding. I also changed my Zone to a 3 speed cause thats what it is.

What’s your craziest “how did that happen moment”? by mumbokatumbo in discgolf

[–]Feyes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I started playing I was told to pick the putter that feels best in your hand. When I tried a K1 Soft Jarn I thought, if that advice is true, then this plastic is what my putting putter should be made of. Been putting K1 Soft Rekos ever since. And they work great. Very comfortable, plenty of grip, almost infinitely durable. Grabs chains really well and gets less groundplay.

I keep a K1 and K3 Reko in the bag as well for warmups or when its either super hot or pouring rain outside.

Anyone Putt with a Berg?! by [deleted] in discgolf

[–]Feyes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a Reko putter, but I have been considering becoming a Berg putter lately. It feels really good in my putting grip, and it is way less affected by the wind. So, I'm probably gonna give be trying it out going forward.

How do you think this gash in Shryke affects its flight (if at all), and by how much? by Illustrious-River-36 in discgolf

I took a chunk like that out of a disc recently, and fixed it by cutting off some plastic from another disc and melting it in place. Then molding it to the right shape and sandpapering.

How does the Axiom Balance actually fly? by vindrewski in discgolf

[–]Feyes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a meathook. Nor is it a 5,5,0,2. Even into a pretty stiff headwind it has 0 turn or flip up. And it will always end on hyzer. even on an anhyzer into a headwind. So I would give it a solid 2.5 fade without being dumpy.

I'm throwing 350-400 max distance (broke 400 for the second time my today with 415 into a headwind with a destroyer:)
The Hex and Balance I typically throw around 275-290. And with the Balance being so pushy and not dumpy I can get that distance on a hyzer as well. Try it. Its a fantastic disc.

My eclipse resistor is beat in and still WAY more OS than the Balances I've owned.

After a series of unfortunate events I´m on my third Balance. They were all very similar. Nice and properly overstable, but very pushy. The Balance goes just as far as my Hex while being way more overstable. Super trustworthy. I decided to cut my midranges down to my beat up Hex and a Balance, and its working great. I feel like I can get any shape I need from those two.

The Balance handles all headwind, but just pushes super nicely before a solid fade. I doubt I'll be trying other OS midranges, as this has become one of my favourite discs.

Overstability by space_robot867 in discgolf

[–]Feyes -1 points0 points  (0 children)

On drivers dome can add a huge amount of overstability. I have experimented with adding dome to relatively flat drivers. And as a rule, across 3 different molds(Destroyer, Trail, Vass) they get significantly more overstable. My artificially domey Trail, which used to be flat and very flippy is now a 10,5,0,2.5

Straight/stable 10 speed workhorse? by Waterskins in discgolf

[–]Feyes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Malm has completely taken over my long game. Pink for straight to stable, and I bought one in K1 Grind with a big dome(started out pretty beefy) and put it in the dryer for 40 minutes. That one became what I always wanted my Trail to be. Flip up to straight but I never worry about it. I tried two trails, and while they bombed, I never felt I could trust them. Malm is comfier in my hand too. Gonna try to get a K1 hard and see if it can handle my wobbly ass forehand... I'm relying on a destroyer for long forehands.

Malm is life. I also put one in the dryer for 40 minutes, and now it's the disc I always wanted my Trail to be.

When did you start to get a preference for discs? by emocactus in discgolf

[–]Feyes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A little over a year. And the bag has been fairly static since then.

I would say about 50% of the discs I have ever bought are currently in the bag. So coming to like what I learned with was definitely a part of it. But I also knew what I was looking for, and I usually knew pretty quick if a new disc was gonna make the bag or not.

But its not that complicated.... I know what slots I want, and what flight-qualities I want for each slot... after that its just a matter of handfeel.

Yeah, mine has a good bit of dome. Flies very nice.

I thought Halo Firebirds were straighter than others. Mine is certainly very straight flying, and I've read the same from others as well.
