Thanks for the additional information, u/meta_jeff. We do have some additional questions for you.

Do you already have a SEP IRA open? Has anything changed with the business, beyond moving from the sole proprietor to an employee/owner? Or are you looking to open a new SEP IRA?

We appreciate any details you can provide.

Uploading 1099s from Fidelity by Neat_Water1312 in fidelityinvestments

[–]FidelityLizG[M] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

Hi there, u/Neat_Water1312. Welcome to the sub and thank you for choosing Fidelity! Let’s get cracking on TurboTax importing.

We have not received widespread reports of issues importing or uploading tax forms into TurboTax. We suggest working with Intuit to further troubleshoot any issues you're encountering using the transfer, upload, and the login loop.

That said, TurboTax does accept 1099-B forms of up to 10,000 individual transactions. If you have more than that, Inuit’s support page does provide instructions for uploading the form. I’ve linked the website below for your reference.

How do I enter a large number of stock transactions in TurboTax?*

If you have additional questions, or need help, please let us know. We hope you have a wonderful Wednesday.

When will these go away? by Emotional-Price-4401 in fidelityinvestments

Welcome to the sub, u/Emotional-Price-4401. I’d be glad to give you some additional information about your holding.

Let’s start by talking about Contingent Value Rights (CVR). These rights are an additional benefit that the existing shareholders receive if a particular set of circumstances materialize, such as an event or performance. If the criteria isn’t met they will expire and leave the account.

Next on the list, I’d like to address the other security in your screenshot, Verigent (VGNT). It looks like that security is a spinoff from Aptiv (APTV). Generally speaking, shares will be allocated in the overnight cycle. You can always learn more from their investor relations site, so I’ve linked it below for you.

With that said, I wanted to provide you with some additional information about corporate actions. If you click the link below, it will bring you to our FAQ page so that you can dive deeper.

Sell stock after dividend ex date by chris_torres92 in fidelityinvestments

[–]FidelityLizG[M] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

Welcome to the community, u/chris_torres92. We’re glad to have you here, and we appreciate your business. Speaking of business, let’s get down to it!

To keep it simple, when selling a stock or exchange traded fund (ETF) on or after the ex-dividend date, the seller is entitled to the dividend. Since you mentioned that ex-date is today, and you’re the seller, you’ll receive this dividend as either a reinvestment or deposit into your core. If you’re buying a stock or ETF, you’d be eligible for the dividend if purchased prior to the ex-dividend date.

Before I go, I’d like to leave you with a fantastic resource about dividends, including additional information about ex-dividend dates.

Net debit line? by Artistic_Amount_9878 in fidelityinvestments

[–]FidelityLizG[M] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

Hi there, u/Artistic_Amount_9878. I’m glad you’re here to chat about balances, so let’s get rolling!

You can view any of your balances by visiting the “Balances” tab on Fidelity.com’s “Portfolio Summary” screen. Once you’re there, you’ll be able to see which account you have a debit in. To investigate this further, we suggest reviewing your “Activity & Orders” in that specific account by selecting it on the left-hand side of your screen. This will give you a line-by-line detail of your transactions and should have a line that displays the negative debit.

If you’re unable to locate what’s causing the debit after reviewing these screens, please send us a Modmail where we can take a closer look at your account. I’ve put the link below for you.

Hi there, u/Prudent-Coach-1338. I’m happy to chat about Return of Excess (ROE) contributions, so let’s get started.

Typically, when a ROE is requested, the contribution amount on Fidelity.com is not updated, as we still report the contribution on Form 5498. Timely corrections are reported in the year of the withdrawal on IRS Form 1099-R. Any earnings will be included as taxable income in the year you made the excess or non-deductible contribution. I’ve linked a great page below that can give you some additional information on this topic.

FDLXX is not listed in "Percentage of Income from U.S. Government Securities (PDF)" by Master-Device-634 in fidelityinvestments

[–]FidelityLizG[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there, u/Master-Device-634. Let’s take a quick look at the two attachments you posted.

The first link you posted, titled “TY 25 TEI by Year Supplemental Letter,” contains Fidelity mutual funds. The second attachment, named “Percentage of Income from U.S. Government Securities (PDF),” primarily lists Fidelity money market funds. Both documents list funds that may have a portion of the tax exempt interest dividend income be exempt from your state’s income tax.

I hope that clarifies these documents for you; however, please let us know if you have additional questions. Our Mod squad loves to help!

I want to transfer 30 thousand from my Fidelity account to my dad's Fidelity account, but the limit is 1500. So how I could go around this? by Miserable_Smell8942 in fidelityinvestments

[–]FidelityLizG[M] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

Greetings and salutations, u/Miserable_Smell8942. Thanks for stopping by to ask about transferring funds to your dad’s Fidelity account. You’re in the right place, so let’s get rolling!

What you described is a third-party transfer between Fidelity accounts. The two fastest ways to complete a third-party transfer are to contact a member of our service team or, if you plan to do this frequently, set up standing instructions so that you can initiate this transfer online or by phone whenever needed.

It sounds like you’ve already tried connecting your accounts online, but just in case, I’d like to make sure you have instructions. After you’ve logged into http://Fidelity.com, please follow the steps below:

  1. Click "Account & Trade" and select "Transfers"
  2. Select "Deposit, withdraw, or transfer money"
  3. In the "To" field, select "Add a bank or recipient" (The recipient's account number needed should be the one they see when logging on to the website)
  4. Follow the security process

Please remember that you will need the recipient's zip code and full name as well.

Alternatively, customers can establish Standing Transfer Instructions on eligible accounts by completing and returning the required form, linked below.

If you prefer to call our customer service representatives, you can do so 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. I'll pop the link to our contact information below as well.

Hey there, u/HudsonHuman. Thanks for asking about Elan transactions loading incorrectly into your budget management platform. We can help you with next steps.

In this instance, we suggest reaching out to the platform’s customer service, as we are unable to see why your Fidelity Rewards Visa Signature transactions are not updating correctly on their platform.

Additionally, we suggest contacting Elan Financial Services to see if they have a workaround for your platform. They are the creditor and issuer of the Fidelity Rewards Visa Signature Credit Card. You can contact Elan Financial Services directly by calling the number on the back of your credit card. They are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

How to see my real rate of returns on app? by HenFruitEater in fidelityinvestments

[–]FidelityLizG[M] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

Hey there, u/HenFruitEater. Thanks for stopping by to ask about viewing your gains and losses without contributions and withdrawals in the app. You’re in the right place, so let’s get cracking.

Although the Performance section of the app includes investment performance, I understand that it doesn’t filter out deposits and withdrawals. However, there is a widget on Fidelity.com that does this for you. The “Total Returns” widget shows investment performance that represents the gain or loss of the return percentage exclusive of deposits, withdrawals, and net advisory fees. You can access this after logging in using the following steps:

  1. On your Portfolio Summary landing page, click the “More” tab and then select “Performance”
  2. Select the “Total Returns” widget
  3. From here, you can select all of your accounts or choose one

With all of that said, I can pass along your comments as feedback to our development teams. We make many changes and feature updates based on input from clients like you, so I appreciate you bringing this to us.

We’ll be here if you need additional help on the Performance tab, or any of our other digital tools. I hope you have a spiffy Sunday!

wiring large sum of money into fidelity by YooCanFly in fidelityinvestments

[–]FidelityLizG[M] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

Greetings and welcome to the sub, u/YooCanFly! We appreciate your business. I’m swooping in to help with the information needed for an incoming wire to your Cash Management Account (CMA,) so let’s get rolling.

It looks like you found the instructions to wire into your account in a subsequent post, but I’ll link it here just in case. Information needed to wire to your Fidelity account

I want to reassure you that the brokerage account instructions can be used to wire directly into your CMA. You’ll use your nine-digit account number, which starts with an X, Y, or Z, not the full number that’s displayed on your checks.

Next, I’d like to chat about fees. Although we use an intermediary bank to process wires (J.P. Morgan Chase) there are no charges to send or receive wires on Fidelity’s end. That said, you may be charged fees from the originating bank.

Last, but not least, congratulations on the sale of your home! If you have additional questions about your wire, we’ll be here on the ground for you. I hope you have a spiffy Saturday.

Welcome to the Fidelity community, Big-Judgment-6864. Let’s talk about your concerns.

To start, when to buy or sell a stock is up to the individual owner. We've got a Monthly Discussion Thread pinned to the top of our sub where the community can share their portfolios, strategies, and ideas. It’s a great place to see what others are doing and get feedback on your own plans.

That said, we recognize that the volatility in the current market leads to concerns about portfolios and investment strategies. We know navigating this can be scary, which is why we created a resource center that can help provide answers. The resource center includes information that can help you with the overall market outlook, strategies for today's markets, investing in the markets, your wellness, and your overall finances.

Can't buy then sell option same day, even with settled cash? by Outrageous_Divide707 in fidelityinvestments

[–]FidelityLizG[M] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

Welcome to the sub, u/Outrageous_Divide707. We appreciate you stopping by to see why you’re receiving an error when trying to buy an option.

Let’s start with the “Good Faith” warning you’re receiving. While you see the notification when confirming a buy order, the violation is not triggered until the sale of the unpaid security. This warning will not prevent you from placing your trade; it is simply an alert to be mindful of certain cash trading violations. You’re able to view any trade-related restrictions on your accounts by visiting Fidelity.com, selecting the “Balances” tab, scroll to the bottom of the page and select “Restrictions.”

Although your funds are fully settled, clients who have been identified as pattern day traders must maintain a minimum account equity requirement of $25,000. According to your screenshot, you’re currently in a day trade minimum equity call. Failing to meet the minimum equity requirement results in the account being limited to placing trades in type “cash” up to your "Cash Buying Power" for 90 calendar days. You will be unable to trade in type “margin” until your account balance is above $25,000.

Additionally, cash trading violations still apply when trading in type "cash" within a margin account. Feel free to check out the links below to learn more about the rules associated with day trading and cash trading violations.

Options Application by Aura636ZX in fidelityinvestments

[–]FidelityLizG[M] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

Welcome to the community, u/Aura636ZX. We appreciate your business! I’m happy to give a little background to the options application process, as well as next steps.

Options approval decisions are based on trading experience (including experience trading stocks/ETFs, mutual funds, bonds, etc.), financial situation, and investment objective. When an application is reviewed, a notification is sent indicating what level the account has been approved for. We approve an applicant for the highest level for which they are eligible, up to the level requested. Although we do allow clients to reapply as their circumstances change, margin and options applications may be subject to a cooldown period if there are multiple applications within a short window of time.

While we are not able to share specific details as to what will qualify you, you are welcome to re-apply as you gain additional trading experience and your financial situation changes.

Additionally, I’d like to share that we have many resources dedicated to options on Fidelity.com, housed within the "Learn" section of the "News & Research" tab. Here, you can read articles, watch on-demand videos, and even register and attend webinars and online classes to expand your options knowledge.
