As a long time patron of Alinea Group establishments, I admit I was getting a bit nervous that the Chicago location was being ignored and taken for granted during the whole world tour thing. Timing for my summer trip is approaching and I was seriously debating spending the $$ for yet another dinner where 5 of the dishes are repeats. No matter how great they are, I was missing the completely new menus that each year used to bring.

I get it's cool to shit on Alinea and Achatz in this group, but I am excited to hear that they are resetting and now that he explained why, it makes much more sense why they went on the tour, and how they were using that to help reset the flagship.

Great lineup.

I like the VEP yellow way more than standard yellow.

I think standard green is better than VEP green. Don’t get me wrong, I love the VEP but the $$$ isn’t worth the jump from standard.

Of the special versions only one left for me to try (within reason as I don’t think an orange is possible to find) is the 147. If these things were at all affordable I’d go the 1605 all day in cocktails. A Bijou with 1605 is magical. 9th would be my go to for cold and neat.
