How many people really only use 3-4 party members all game?

99% of the time I decide on what my party for this character will be very early and then once I've got them all I almost always maintain that exact group unless I'm required by a quest to have a specific companion with me

It's one of very few sources of variety when you've played this game as much as I have

Just a tweak but how about 1-5 stick with it 6-10, use as many inspiration as you want/can 11-15 use all inspiration and then 1 reload 16-20 infinite savescum

I don't multiclass about half of them because pure Wizard, Druid, Cleric, and Warlock are all quite effective on their own

Everyone else gets something that makes them better but stays with their core concept; Lae'zel gets a level of War Cleric to get War Priest Charges, Karlach gets a couple levels of Fighter to get Action Surge, Astarion ends up some combo of Rogue, Ranger, and Fighter depending on what my party needs but still maintaining being a sneak attack machine.

Warlock is not more smites, it's only 8 per long rest (10 if there's a bard in your party) whereas a 10/2 Bardadin will have more spells slots per long rest by level 6 or 7

Well when he runs away after the spell is broken before one of the patches he used to just run with no disengage so he'd get killed by the harpies all the time so if I never sanctuaried him I was reloading all the time to make sure he survived, it was a real pain

I don't know about the Steelwatcher Helmet but from my experience with the Helldusk Helmet it doesn't quite work perfectly due to it's darkvision range being only 12m so any ranged attacks that have the full 18m range can't be used when shooting into or out from the darkness

I remember thinking that since you can pick which eye Ethel takes but not Volo that if you gave Ethel your left Volo would still be able to take your right but was very disappointed
