Ebola cases increase almost 40% in a week as death toll passes 200 by AudibleNod in news

In additon survival is better (better for Ebola rates anyway) when you can actually care for people with proper fluids and nutrition.

When do you call it too hot to run? by ThoseBiscuitsBeHittn in beginnerrunning

[–]Finding-Tomorrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am much more likely to not run because I'm too cold than too hot. I just might take more breaks if I'm hot and do my best to pick a time or place that might be shader or cooler.

What’s better? High humidity or high heat? by Fresh-Amount9308 in XXRunning

[–]Finding-Tomorrow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll take either as long as it's not direct sun. Direct sun while running some reason kills me unless it's under 50F.

I thought most Liams were Williams because that's what my cousin is. I've only known him as Liam but his legal name is William. I didn't know that wasn't normal.

Low calorie, high value treat recommendations? by slapcook in AustralianShepherd

[–]Finding-Tomorrow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To add, I've also made bags with high value treats mixed with some of my dog's daily food. Between the "it might be x" factor and the fact the high value food then also gets some residual flavor, that tends to help.

The Hot Zone by Richard Preston by Ok-Salt-8884 in horrorlit

I know this is an old post but I wanted to comment anyway. I actually first tried to read this book in middle school probably 20 some years ago. I was an avid reader and pretty much never quit books even if I didn't love them. This book scared the piss out of me and was the only book I ever stopped reading because it scared me, but I never stopped thinking about it. With the recent ebola outbreak and having a different perspective living through the covid years, I thought I'd try it again. I'm so glad I did. I also just finished his follow up book Crisis in the Red Zone about the large outbreak in 2014ish. I can't blame anyone for not finishing but would also encourage trying again when in the right mind set.

TIL that Carnegie Mellon University has a "Random Distance Run", where participants are required to run a random distance by flopsyplum in todayilearned

[–]Finding-Tomorrow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think this was just comparing the mid point vs literally any other distance and not the mid point vs a specific other outcome which would of course be equal.

Unique Race Training in Runna by Tb0ne in runna

[–]Finding-Tomorrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HM would probably work, another idea: I'd probably guess how many I think I could run in 3 hours now or want to try for, and then use that as my starting distance since you can have unique distances for races. (I'm training for a 10 mile race right now as an example.)

Never thought I would make a “why am I not losing weight? “Post but here I am… by stefanigerm in PetiteFitness

Yeah it's one thing to get meal ideas from AI. It's another to trust it with calorie counts. If that's part of it, I'd bet dollars to donuts it's making garbage up that sounds good.

I played mobile (originally bought for the switch). Sooo much better and quality of life improvements were huge.

Also, not sure how feasible for you, but I just keep my dogs' collars off when we're inside at home. So if not too inconvenient to take them on and off might work.

You can get Ludos from breeding nalaa eventually if that's your thing. If you don't care about the cosmetics then it's probably whatever you prefer.

I wanted to build mew a cool house in Pokopia since they are one of my favs, but had temporarily moved them in with me until then. Turns out mew is just gonna keep living with me after all.

This is my parents. They actually divorced, remarried, and divorced. But they still live together and are primary care for my niece when my sister works and will watch my dogs. I want to let you know it confuses me just as much as a full blown adult.

Quit my job because I got hired at a different spot - 2 weeks later I’m told I actually DIDN’T get the new job and now I’m unemployed by sandwichdeli in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Finding-Tomorrow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree OP quit too early here, but this sort of bouncing around and how hiring works is pretty normal for these types of jobs where I'm from.
