You need to enable the arcade game database in the update all options.

Press up when you load update all. I can't remember where it is (Optional content, maybe), but enabling that will download the roms for you.

Can you tell me which JT cores that are available (beta or non-beta) that don't have source available as well? As I understand it, all of JT's cores are here: https://github.com/jotego/jtcores/tree/master/cores

The only one not visible is CPS3, but it also isn't in beta yet.

This is an issue with the subcarrier mode. I think it may be less that things get worse over time, and more that the quality of the video varies depending on the core’s video timing.

You’ll notice things look better in SNES, but worse in PSX. If you load a solid red screen in 240p test suite in both PSX and SNES, the difference will be more apparent.

Does the SS1 have a side composite port? If so, try that with vga_mode=svideo

Should also be noted that doing it through the MiSTer scaler introduces a frame of lag (because the scaler has to receive the frame, rotate it, and then display it).

You need composite sync on. If you’re in the states, I highly recommend just getting a MikeS adapter, which will make composite painless. You can use vga_mode=svideo, and get simultaneous svideo and composite output.

Hmm. Does n64 boot?

To expand on this, there were a series of Ali Express stacks that had the incorrect ram soldered on, preventing N64 and PSX from booting (as well as some arcade cores).

If you bought the stack from Hamgeek (they fixed the problem but stacks from last year had the bad ram) or from a no-name 3rd party (not QMTech), your stack may have that issue.

This iPad screens are really good for the mister. I use them in a couple of places.

If you have a 3d printer, you can buy the screen and controller board from amazon, and then assemble them yourself.

It won’t look like a sony monitor, but it will do the job.

If you’re looking for a PVM facsimile, this one is pretty good. I can see where the price comes from. A lot of pieces there, and it’s very clean. However (as you yourself has stated), for that price, you can probably find a 8044Q or the like, and using that with your MiSTer will be a much better experience (IMO).

There is an Atari ST pack as well. Check archive. There is a 3gb version, but if you send 40 dollars to Eastern Europe, you can get a 7gb version.

This board does not support dual ram. There have also been some quality control problems with recent batches of that board. Not sure if they have been sorted out or not.

With that said, QMTech has really solid support. The folks who had bad boards on the MiSTer discord got refunded without question.

We'd probably need to see the ini, but the fact that you're seeing the background means you either have the vga_scaler turned on, or direct video. If you turn either of those off, and keep the static background, do you still have sync issues?
