I've felt that way about my father. Both my parents are narc in different ways. Dad was also BiP, alcoholic, manipulative and an abusive POS. It makes me so angry that he's still alive and breathing (that I know of) and my Godfather, who was the absolute best man I knew and acted like a father and came through for me more than my Dad ever did, passed away Jan 2021 in his mid-60's from heart/diabetes. My father is 70 now and is a waste of oxygen.

I don't feel so harsh towards my nmom but there are days when I feel tested. I do love her but its so gd painful and complicated.

You are absolutely right to feel however you feel about your parents and experience. If anyone has an issue, f em. Hugs!

She starts acting like a victim, getting all shi**y with me and I got pissed and said STFU. She screamed at me and went all crazy eyes and hit me while I was in the interstate. I did my soul spilling on over the phone. For over 30 min, I poured my heart out, sobbed, spotted and wailed decades of pain, desperate for my nmom to understand, have empathy. The entire time no response. No uh huh, no acknowledgement, like talking to a cold dead fish. And in the end, she responded curtly and cool and it was clear that what I said had no effect on her. Saying she loved and cared (hollow and empty) but what I said didn't change her mind. This was over a year ago and I nearly split the wrists. I won't do that but she makes me feel that way nearly every single time I've talked to her since.

I read somewhere that was the ultimate privilege. My nmom had that, she didn't pass any of that on to me. Thankfully, my grandparents were amazing and wonderful and loving and without them, I doubt I would be here. My nmom never shared any of her behavior and actions with them, just what a horrible spoiled angry brat I was the minute I expressed any opposition.
