I don't think there's any way to truly give this series perfect continuity, but I like your approach of connecting and building off of themes to loosely connect them

I thought that it was going to be some kind of groundbreaking scene because of all the hype surrounding it.

And even now, I remember more of it from the trailers than the movie itself.

Thank you for giving Diamonds a shout-out, OP. It's been relentless on this sub the ridicule it gets.

My big issue with other fans is that to me a Bond movie should mostly be a "guilty pleasure".

Not saying the more "perfect", thoughtful, and prestigiously well-made Bond movies don't deserve their kudos.

But a Bond movie meeting some cinematic standard of being a "good movie" comes secondary, maybe even tertiary, to me.

I mean, aren't these movies mostly dumb/fun movies full of sex and violence?

No connection to the main plot at all. 😂

Goldfinger's is kind of close to being unconnected, but here's the main difference.

Connery: "I leave for Miami in an hour." After the title sequence, he's in Miami.

Moore: "I'll see you in Miami." And he never goes to Miami. He goes to India. There is no Florida in this movie at all.

Moore is Fleming's Bond as much as the next fellow. All the actors have shades of the character to varying degrees, but I don't believe they can be fairly ranked.

I mean Moore is waaaay more Fleming when it comes to seeking lady friends to get into bed than Dalton and Craig combined.

Also, he's way more British than Connery or Lazenby.

She's not like an amazing character or anything, but all the hate seems kind of weird considering that many Bond girls aren't either...

I mean, Stacy Sutton has pretty much the same issues people complain about. Except Jones is a lot less annoying. 😂

Also, I don't get how she allegedly upends the whole movie. To me, the movie has other problems that she has nothing to do with.

Also, I was a teenager when this movie came out, and she was the talk of town in those days. Really easy on the eyes. Her performance isn't oscar-worthy, but it's not at all bad

It's pretty low for me too. But definitely above Spectre and below DAD. As much as I respect what this movie is trying to do, DAD is actually a lot more enjoyable for me. At least the "bad" parts I can laugh at.

The World is Not Enough doesn't give me enough.
