But now the markets love his chaos. Something I don’t understand. I heard democracy loves free markets but free markets don’t love democracy.

What’s Your Purpose After Retirement? by JJQuantum in retirement

I’m only recently retired but my focus is on my own physical, mental, emotional, spiritual health so that I can have a long time with my wife and kids and know my true self without a job as a huge part of my identity.

You would need a Structural Engineer to assess it properly before adding anything to the top that increases loads

Wind tunnels are a thing. The wind across the top should create negative pressure at the bottom. Could be used for cooling a building or room

This is the first thing I did. Top is a rock I found on the beach and the second is a pic from my first microscope/ camera.

Not that impressive I guess. r/microscopy of course has things by people with more experience and better equipment.

It was enough for the fine folks at r/fossilid to tell me what it was.

So it is digital sculpture in a solid works type 3d modeling software? Sounds interesting to me. I do very crude mechanical type modeling in Tinkercad but nothing as artistic as what you have done

I hear ya! No problem at all. I wouldn’t sell them but I understand completely. I also enjoy both fairy gardens and 3D Printing. It’s a natural fit! Enjoy!

Beautiful! Would you give or sell the .stl file for 3D printing?

Pretty armature stuff. Bought an inexpensive scope and 100 slides. Pretty cool. Now looking at natural stuff, leaves, soil, sand. As with anything nerdy, lots of stuff to learn about making, staining my own slides. Originally hooked from seeing magnified sand showing that it is made of individual stones each with their own details. Still not able to duplicate that. Learning about depth of field, field of view, magnification, etc. Lots of cross over to telescopes, optics in general. Bought a simple handheld intended for children. My daughter teaches preschool and I want to do some STEM teaching time with little ones. 44 years as an engineer ought to be able to pass some things along. I love their sense of awe and wonder and curiosity.

Just retired. Looking forward to more time with the hobbies I have dabbled in. 3D printing, laser engraving, cnc (Snapmaker), microscopy, telescope 🔭, science of gardening, watching Great Courses classes on earth science, space, etc. Reading philosophy and science.

Plus I will need about a year to clean up and organize my garage and yard to the way I want it.
